Renegade Kid has had a pretty strong presence on the Nintendo eShop for this generation, and it was all kicked off by Mutant Mudds. A '12-Bit' 2D platformer, the original game launched on the 3DS eShop at a time when there were few worthwhile games to be found on the service. Mutant Mudds was already a tough game to begin with, and while there has yet to be a sequel, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge will be something of a 'hard mode' to the game.
There hasn't been a whole lot revealed about the game so far, but it seems that it isn't too far away from a release in both Europe and North America. It was just revealed on Twitter that the game is done and submitted to Nintendo in both regions, so hopefully a release date is the next thing on the agenda. Here are the tweets:

Um...the demo was so hard it gave me nightmares.
I'm not even sure I'm manly enough to take it on.
I beated the main game an the 20-Stage-DLC completely, so I will have a good time beating this one.
I beat the entirety of the original and there were some nail bitingly nasty stages in that, so I think I'm ready for this. I'll be picking it up for sure.
Wasn't that fussed about the original. Didn't really see why it sold so well. If it's just more of the same, no thanks. If they develop on it, I might be interested.
Mutant Mudds was easy...
Bring it on!!!
I don't understand Renegade Kids. I love Mutant Mudds, but then they released only remakes of 3D first person DS titles which I didn't care about, and now they release what is simply a harder version of Mutant Mudds, which I don't think is the right way to go for the franchise. Oh, and Xeodrifter was way too expensive for such a short and limited game. They cry about sales, but make all the wrong decisions.
RK are a good little dev team but seem too be struggling with cost or too many projects at one time.
Is this like the third version of this game? This is getting Street Fighter levels.
I can see Jools milking his most successful IP, but harder will mean less and less people interested so it won't work in the long run. Where is Treasurenauts again?
@sinalefa this is the second version only and a sequel more than a "version", Mutant Mudds Deluxe was a free update. But yes, where is Treasurenauts?
Yay! Looking forward to this! Hope it includes some new tunes. (Can't remember if the demo music was new or not.)
Also, the site layout changed! Looks good!
@sinalefa I think this game could best be described as "Mutant Mudds 1,5". It's definitely not Mutant Mudds 2 (which is apparently coming in the future), but it is a big improvement over the original. After all, Super Challenge has boss fights, new level themes, new enemies and new playable characters.
Personally I'm extremely excited for Super Challenge. I completed the original (with Ghost Levels) completely three times.
Definitely! I beat the first game and I hunger for more.
I never really like Mutant Mudds all that much. I remember being hyped about the first game but I felt as though there was too little content for too much of an asking price when the first came out. All of that however comes secondary to just how much I didn't enjoy playing the game. It felt like the worst kind of cheap nes platformers except that the nes platformers had better design
