For those of you that aren't well versed in technical jargon, a voxel is essentially just a 3D version of a pixel. While this isn't something that would really have much relevance in most everyday conversation, it is of utmost importance in Nostatic Software's upcoming game, VoxelMaker. You'll be able to see this for yourself when the game goes live in North America on 1st October.
VoxelMaker appears to be some sort of 3D art studio that's centered around creating models and environments with 3D blocks, which can then be rendered with realistic lighting and shadows. It appears to have a fairly deep set of tools and features; we'll be sure to have a review for you with our impressions on whether or not it's worth taking the plunge. Here's a video of it in action:
Doubtless, those of you who have invested hours into Minecraft's creative mode will find plenty to love here, as the possibilities are potentially endless.
What do you think? Will you be picking this up? What would you like to build in a creative game like this? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Heh, miiverse people eat this stuff up. They got themselves a winner.
This game looks too technical to me. I mean you have to create everything for one pixel by the looks of it. Looks more geared to artists then Minecraft users. In Minecraft you want an animal plop there it is. In this game you have to make your own. Wonder if you can save them and repeat them?
Looks really nice.
Hope it isnt too technical, cause it looks cool.
The price will play a big part in whether or not I buy this, it would be fun in short bursts but I can see it sitting dormant for long periods in-between on my console.
This is intriguing, but does it feature any actual gameplay at all? It makes me think of a Mario Maker that doesn't allow you to actually play the levels you create.
As said in first post, Miiverse will eat this up. Also the devs have a decent track record so far of cheap, quality games like Quiet Collection and Kung Fu Fight.
This reminds me of the character creator tool in 3D Dot Game Heroes. While I love the game, I could never really design a cool character of my own. I'm going to pass.
Can you put all those individual creations into a world and walk around in it,like Minecraft?Or are you just creating individual models? The screenshot makes it look like you can but the video doesn't.
This software has small blocks to work with and better color section than Cube Creator 3d. This will add a different experience and creativity will differ. I like both.
I know that this isn't a Nintendo published game, but it may be a good step towards the inevitable 3D Mario Maker. Any success they have with this and mistakes they make can be looked at by Nintendo to create a great 3DMM experience for us in the next console generation.
Looks cool but if it's expensive I will wait for the youtube videos first.
Downloading tonight. Looks fantastic.
@SetupDisk It's only $5
Looks pretty fleshed out for a tool of this kind. I'm sure quite a few artists will enjoy this.
Not technical at all. Very pleased. Another excellent use of the gamepad. Well worth it.
