With the inconsistent nature of localisation it's never clear which major releases in Japan will make it to the West, so a much-welcomed Summer announcement was when Square Enix confirmed 3DS title Final Fantasy Explorers for North America and Europe. It'll arrive in January next year (26th in NA and 29th in EU) and will be yet another sizeable 3DS experience due in the early period of the year.
Heavily focused on battling, levelling up and playing co-operatively with others - though you can recruit monsters to help - it's something a little different in the series, and luckily New York Comic Con attendees from today (8th October) to 11th October will be able to go hands on with the title. The posters below will also be given out to players while stock lasts.
Though we weren't blown away by it in our early impressions last year, we're certainly keen to see how this one shapes up next January. If you're heading to New York for the event let us know whether this demo will be on your itinerary.
Thanks to Chris Ruston for the heads up.

Keeping my eye on this game. Hoping it's somewhat similar to Phantasy Star online.
@Spoony_Tech How many people on here know that's you?
I really need to start attending this thing, maybe when my kids are a few years older.
Those posters are awesome. I think they also announced more DI 3.0 Marvel there today as well. Maybe I should put it on the calendar for next year.
Nintnedo may not get much 3rd party support, but Squenix does have a few things on 3DS.
This game looks interesting, kinda a mix of Fantasy Life and Monster Hunter.
I just have one big question that will make or break my purchase. Is Sephiroth playable?
I'm very excited for this. It looks more like a phantasy Star Online type of experience than a monster Hunter Experience. I can't wait. Wish I was headed to New York :_(
@Spoony_Tech Me too since sega is being stingy with the PSO series Square might as well step up. I guess sega is too busy saving the Classic 3D games lol
@rjejr 2 lol maybe 3.
@Windy I've only ever seen PSO played and never played it myself. My cousin had it for the Cube and it was all of 2 games on a Nintendo system I've ever seen him play.
Played a short while ago. Plays like Monster Hunter had a baby with Kingdom Hearts. Will definitely play a few more times over the weekend for more of them sweet posters
@BinaryFragger Don't you remember when Square was kicking themselves for not localizing Bravely Default? It was an artical over a year ago. Ever since they have been localizing their own games although all I can think of was Curtain Call. Of course this is the 3ds only and I believe it applys to new games and not the DQ series.
This game will satisfied my Crystal Chronicles craving.
I want Phantasy Star 02 ;__;
So far this game looks like something I might get one day. Still not fully sold but I'm optimistic that it won't suck.
@Naoiko I am right there with you
definetly keeping an eye on this one.
Make sure y'all have a circle pad pro or a New 3DS. Game plays awfully without a stick for the camera. Can't even use the shoulder buttons to swivel it around like in KH3D or SMT4.
No freaking idea what the heck SE was thinking. Not even a virtual dpad ala Monster Hunter :/
@Spoony_Tech PSO was my favorite game to play for a couple years. I started on the Dreamcast then moved over to the GameCube. I tried to like Phantasy Star Universe shudders. Then the Nice Phantasy Star Zero on DS was a real pleasant surprise. It didn't look as nice as the other version but it played pretty much identical to the original. I'm tempted to get one of those Cards so I can play Phantasy Star Zero again online. But I think Final Fantasy Explorers will fill that gap nicely. I can't wait cause it looks pretty close to PSO. I wish sega would just bring the original to 3DS with stereoscopic 3D and add a nice story to it. Talk about an RPG with basically no storyline at all! What a weird combo for an RPG. No storyline at all but was just good solid fun item collecting. As we know most RPG's with no storyline die a quick death but PSO didn't.
Nice I am going to NYCC on Saturday! I'll be sure to check it out.
Wait, who is Spoony_Tech?
Could be good but it's gonna take a lot of convincing that this isn't just 'another ARPG' experience. Might scratch my Blue Dragon Awakened Shadow itch tho. sigh that game was so good.
