Games Center CX – known to many as Retro Games Master – is a fascinating Japanese show where a charismatic host plays through retro video games and conducts interviews with developers. It certainly seems like stuff that would belong in the realm of Youtubers and Let's Players, but the show has gone on to achieve a cult following both in Japan and abroad. A while back, Shinya Arino – the show's host – had Shigeru Miyamoto on an episode and he had Miyamoto play through a Super Mario Maker stage.
Now, it seems that Nintendo wants everyone to try out this stage that had managed to trump Miyamoto. In the upcoming update that will most notably be adding checkpoint flags, this stage will be deployed and players will be given a small reward for beating it in the form of a Shinya Arino costume. Here's a video of everything the update will be adding:
What do you think? Are you glad to see Nintendo adding things like this? What else would you like to see added in? Drop us a comment in the section below.

I hope these Shinya Arino stage and costume won't be exclusive to Japan...
Maybe I can beat it. It would be nice to get a new costume.
Sounds good, looking forward to giving this a go! So excited for this new update, gonna be great!
@MitchVogel Great, informative article! Just thought I'd point out that the video is in Japanese!
Is it excluexcluexclusivesivesive to Japan or not?

I want that costume...he's really fun to watch.
Just my favorite TV show of all time!
Won't this be japan-exclusive?
it says Nintendo wants everyone to try this and it is included in the update which means that it isn't Japan exclusive otherwise it would say so.
I think the costume is already available in Japan? That's what I heard anyway, so maybe this costume is being made available worldwide but only through this event?
This is exactly what I want to see more of! Events that give rewards! Excellent!
As for new content, I think most of us would like to see more pallets (desert, beach, swamp, etc) and the ability to add water to a level so it's half & half.
respond if you think AVGN should make a stage then be playable as a DLC mystery mushroom costume also his taunt would be the middle finger power glove
I knew who Arino was from Retro Game Challenge for the DS. Also, that's kind of cool. I'll try it, but I'm not expecting too much of the level.
If it's not a Japan exclusive, I'll definitely try it.
Love Chief Arino and Game Center CX. This is such a cool idea.
Game Center CX is my #1 show about gaming, beating out all others. Hopefully I'll get to play as the Kacho himself in Mario Maker.
I am actually getting tired of hearing about Mario Maker levels created by "professional game developers" and "gaming celebrities". They're just... never that good.
Nice. I really love the way that Nintendo supports games in this way after launch. Splatoon is the prime example of how to keep a game fresh and exciting for many months. And it should be noted that most of the Big N's DLC is free to download without paying extra. A big plus for someone like me who has a very limited gaming budget.
Nice work, Kacho.
I'm pretty sure that nowhere can get the stage or the costume currently, and everywhere will be able to after the update.
Get ready for an Arino onslaught.
"Who?" ...Article writer is 18 years old... GameCenter CX might not appeal to someone of that generation who didn't grow up playing the sort of games Arino does on his show.
I almost care lol
@yuwarite Haha, so true! I love retro games, but I'd never heard of this show till I heard about this guy's level being included.
@MitchVogel That's cool! If you want to watch the shows online, check out www.gamingcx.com; it has an up to date fully translated archive.
I'm really hoping that they'll be adding checkpoints in the next update for Super Mario Maker. It will add so much more things that users can do, it should make it easier for people to make longer levels and such without annoying the player of the level. It's something small, but it can do some pretty big things.
Awesome. I always wanted to play this level!
@Mk_II Stay fresh!
OMG! I watched that episode on youtube, is this the level he invested many hours and no one read his secret messages? I want to play it!
