Games Done Quick is one of the best known and most-loved speedrunning organisations. With two major events a year that raise plenty of money for charity, it gives us an excuse to watch extremely skilful gamers play a mix of old and relatively new games.
It's taking place in St. Paul, Minneapolis this year, and kicks off on on Sunday 26th July at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK / 7pm CET, with the full live stream being available on Twitch. The schedule has the usual treats such as Super Metroid and Super Mario 64, though relatively recent titles such as The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and 3DS remake The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D also feature; there are lots of great games being played.
The event will run for a full week until 2nd August, with proceeds going to the Doctors Without Borders charity.
Check out the official website for the full lowdown - will you be watching this year?

Great! These are always fun to watch. I hope they manage to receive great amounts of donations this year.
Speedrunning Majora goes against everything that game stands for and should be considered a criminal offense. But hey, at least it's for a good cause...
Ah yes! Something fun to watch during the summer vacation
Right after Yoshi's Island, there'll be a run of Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, version 1.0.
I'll be looking forward to that, it's such a bad game that's so easily broken.
RIP my productivity next week.
Pretty hype for SGDQ!
At least they didn't snub Kingdom Hearts again
I think they mean St.Paul, Minnesota. Unless I've been living in a state called Minneapolis my entire life
@LacquerHead I was thinking the same thing... Except I was looking for the third city, in what I believed to be a list! 😋
The hype is real #YSG
Too bad F-Zero won't be making an appearance this time... Also, would love it so much if there ever was a Star Fox Assault - Gold - 100% speedrun. It be something new...
Anyway, looking forward to next week! ^^
I'll probably tune in. There's a stream tomorrow, and this one's on Sunday. I better make a note of 'em.
