Final title announced during E3 event
Nintendo has revealed the final Western title for the new 3DS Fire Emblem during its Digital Event at E3.
Fire Emblem Fates is the final name - in Japan, it is known as Fire Emblem If. Both titles reflect the fact that this is one of the most open-ended instalments in the series yet, offering two different story paths through the main campaign.
Fire Emblem Fates will launch in the West next year. What do you think of the name?

The name is fine. The singing in the trailer sounded kind of awkward in English (as most covers do). Wish they gave out more information regarding the game. Saving info for another direct, I guess.

@ShadJV I disagree. If is an awkward-sounding name, and it makes the multiple-route system implementation disappointing.
Fates, on the other hand, is something I'd like to see from a title that gives you two (or three) sides to a story.

I hope they release a bundle of the two versions. Regardless, I will be picking this up. This was one of two titles that I'm excited for.
I like If better... however either way I'm buying this game(s).
...I mean I'd like it sooner, but I have to finish all the other FE games besides Awakening and Blazing Sword first. I'm not exactly hurting for new FE games to play, and that's not even counting the rest of my backlog...

This name makes more sense in the West. This game will be one of the best and more memorable games ever released for 3DS. Must-buy.
Apparently Fates has gotten the exact same score as Awakening in Famitsu in Japan. So things are looking good!!
Can't wait for this. That was an emotionally intense trailer the likes of which hasn't been in a Fire Emblem story since Path of Radiance. I hate I'm going to have to buy two games, but I doubt I'll ultimately regret it.
This is a much better name. I don't know about Japanese, but using a single conjunction as a subtitle just does not work well in English.
