Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire have only been in stores for two weeks in North America, Japan and Australia, while the titles have now been out for one week in Europe. Despite this it seems to have already reached some impressive sales figures, with The Pokémon Company also stating that they're outperforming Pokémon X & Y.
After one week on sale the titles had reached three million sales, but it seems a combination of the European launch — where pre-orders were said to be particularly strong — and Black Friday sales have seen an impressive 7.7 million copies shipped, which is sales to retailers and shows the levels of demand. In terms of the numbers for outperforming X & Y, meanwhile, launch sales of ORAS are 135% of the equivalent X & Y figures.
That's a particularly impressive start for the remakes, and Nintendo will no doubt hope that — like with X & Y — solid momentum will continue for a number of weeks to come.
Have you picked up Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire yet? Are you surprised by the scale of this early success? Let us know.

Wow! Incredible!
Impressive! though it is to be expected seeing that its pokemon. Wish Smash would sell like this for the Wii U.
Meanwhile, Shovel Knight only sold 300K across all platforms worldwide. It's a success for Yacht Club Games but it's too low for me for an awesome game.
Very good news, and certainly means Pokemon is still as popular as ever.
Shame Wii U can't have success like this.
I'm not surprised. This is the game we were all waiting for
That's a lot of change in Nintendo's pockets!
That's not to even mention eshop sales, wow!
tell me when that "shipped" turns too "sold"
Just make Pokemon Z for Wii U, and a free Pokemon Z Mini for the 3DS for those who buy the Z version and VOILA! Done deal.
In all seriousness, that's pretty awesome, but I thought I read somewhere that the 7.7m was for Europe alone... Thanks NL, for clearing this up!
Teh flip?!
Woah! I knew it would do good, but I didn't know it would be that good. I guess it will be the best selling 3DS game just like the originals were for Gameboy. Much deserved though for my favourite Pokémon games (Gen 3 was the best for me, even though I started with Gen 1). The remakes were very well done, and there was a lot of content added in, not just some graphics touch ups.
Hadn't had my help yet as it's either to cold or raining when I have time to go pick them up at Gamestop!
I think this guarantees another Pokemon game in late 2015. I would say Pokemon Z, but didn't one of the directors of the game state explicitly that they weren't going to make Pokemon Z?
I haven't got it yet as I put Alpha Sapphire on my Christmas list assuming I wouldn't have enough money. Turned out I did have enough and now I'm waiting at least 20 days (surprise so I could be getting Sonic Boom Wii U instead).
I planned on getting just one version, but a few days after release (I got OR with the steelbook packaging, from preordering) I found the steelbook AS for e€35. Now I have both...
That's the power of Pokemon.
#Spheal with it.
@StitchScout Doesn't matter to Nintendo. They already have their money from the 7.7 million shipped like was said. Now it's up to the retailers to push their already purchased stock by whatever means they deem fit.
Btw that's 210 million if they sell at 30$ a game. Not sure exactly the price but still they made a ton off that.
Given the success of Pokémon and how relevant it is even today, it's a shame they don't have a proper Pokémon on Wii U. If there was any franchise that would move units, it's that!
So is that more than the "official" number of Wii U sold? Last number I remember is 7.3 million. I'd bet its past that by now w/ SSBU being out I just don't recall hearing a new number.
I wonder if a Pokemon Wii U game could actually sell 700+ Pokemon amiibo?
@Spoony_Tech back in July over ten million xbox ones had been shipped... only 5.5 million sold. so i will stand by what I said "tell me when that "shipped" turns too "sold"
Wow. I'm actually planning on getting into this franchise after Christmas as it's the only major Nintendo franchise I've never played. Gonna Start with Y and get AS later on. I may also try Platinum and Heart Gold.
wow..that's awesome!! children, teenage and Adult who love pokemon so much.. they couldn't help it... bec they love this games pokemon.
That's a lot. Impressive. I got both copies myself.
