In this completely silly run of bite-sized features, we're going to write a new version of '12 Days of Christmas' with a Nintendo twist that will, hopefully, be good enough to sing.
Four Calling Chatots
There were a few candidates for an equivalent to "four calling birds", and this was suggested by Samuel-Flutter in the comments. A parrot-like 'mon, this one can imitate speech, Pokémon cries and sing tunes; as long as it's not calling us names, we'd happily have one of these outside the window on a lovely festive morning.
So far, then, our song is as follows:
On the First day of Christmas my true love sent to me,
A big chair in a Pear Tree.On the Second day of Christmas my true love sent to me,
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Third day of Christmas my true love sent to me,
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear TreeOn the Fourth day of Christmas my true love sent to me,
Four calling Chatots
Three angry cuccos
Two Koopa Troopas
and a big chair in a Pear Tree
Be sure to share your suggestions for additional lyrics in the comments below; a classic Christmas song will be born.

I assume tomorrow will be "5 Golden Coins!"
Good job @Samuel-Flutter on the win yesterday!
It just has to be 5 golden coins.
5 Sonic Rings.......well he is in Smash Bros
five little fairies
@MoonKnight7 Thank you. I honestly didn't know there was a contest, I was just trying to guess what the next day could possibly be. I just like puzzles.
For five golden rings, I'd throw money behind the five golden coins. I suppose you could do things with rings like Sonic, who collects golden rings, but alas he's not a Nintendo character. Maybe something like power rings from Zelda or Gold Rings from StarFox?
5 goldeens... 5 golden coins/rings... I think those could work.
Surely it has to be SIX golden coins to coincide with Mario Land 2.
@Larryislife You mean 6 golden coins. Not 5.
Aw, c'mon, think outside the box.
How about Five Golden Gauntlets for a Zelda reference?
@Samuel-Flutter
It suddenly became a competition, I guess, haha.
Actually the 6 Golden Coins from Mario Land 2 is a pretty fun idea too!
I think @B3ND3R made a clever suggestion with five monado arts. Xenoblade was a great Nintendo exclusive worthy of a mention on the list!
Or 5 golden shards, as in Triforce shards. But then again, there's usually 8, not 5.
Five secret rings? I mean that sonic game was on Wii...
5 Kirby Copy Abilities?
How about 5 golden rupees, then? Although, that means that LOZ would have two verses then. Hmmmm...
5 NES!
@JasonAnArgoNOT64 I like that one! Very outside the box.
FIVE, D K COINSSSSSSSSSSS

It's got the right amount of syllables.
I was close!
Also "Five Golden Rings" (sonic) is too good to pass up.
What about "Five UrsaRings"
Although that would make 2 pokemon in a row...
Hard choice between 5 golden coins or 6.
@Dipper723 I thought about five Triumph Forks, for the WindWaker, but there are eight of those. I can't think of anything that you have to collect five of. Maybe five Yoshi coins, from Super Mario World.
On the fifth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Five Boxing Rings
...
As in from Punch-Out!
Five dead Pewpies.
Like @B3ND3R said
5 monado arts..or
5 golden rings/coins
5 NES...
@Armaggedon16 @legendwaker heck yeah. I just wanted to pop in on this one too to say Five Monado Arts again, glad to see others agree!
@B3ND3R But there are 8 Monado Arts, not just 5. Two of them are optional side-quest aquisitions, while the last one isn't unlocked until late in the game.
Anyway, shouldn't it be 4 Calling Chatot? I thought the plural form of any Pokémon species (as well as "Pokémon" itself) was the same as its singular form.
@BulbasaurusRex On the Chatot plural thing I'll be honest. I have no idea. We can always tweak it in the final song
@ThomasBW84 When the song is finished is everyone in NintendoLife offices going to wear christmas jumpers and sing the song?
5 red coin rings!!! You know you love it!
