Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is just days away in North America, representing Nintendo's final major retail release of the year; it arrives in the New Year in Europe and Australia. Regular video series Nintendo Minute has therefore taken the chance to show off some new levels, and we think you'll want to see them.
This video is basically a spoiler, but odds are you'll struggle to avoid the details within, while those considering the origins of Captain Toad's adventure should have an inkling of potential surprises and treats. If you think you can successfully avoid the outside world until the game comes out, though, look away now.
We won't tease any more, check out the bonus surprise — and one of our favourite things in the game — below.

Tried to resist the preorder...no dice
I'm getting this day one. Sadly though, it'll have to wait while I plow through my backlog.
Hopefully they announce 3dworld dlc at some point soon.
@Djreisat I'm just too charming to resist what can I tell ya.
The commentary is surprisingly non-cringey compared to other stuff Nintendo's put out.
This game looks amazing, day one buy for me.
I stopped watching footage of this game awhile ago so not to spoil too much. Can't wait till midnight release!
ima get this for christmas
This looks so fuuuuuun.
Toadette is the only reason people need inorder to buy this game
This game looks straight legit. While I was indifferent on the captain toad levels on SM3DW, The use of the gamepad and the new enemies and more involved world has me sold on this one. This game is extremely polished and will earn my dollars
@WaveWarlock It was delayed in Europe to January 2, but in North America it comes out December 5.
Must. Resist. Watching. Too. Cute. Spoilers. Ahhhhhhhhh. It's almost here! My most anticipated game of the holidays (Yes, even more than Smash) <3333
So excited for this game, even more anticipated for me than smash. I see so much of that Nintendo creativity in it. Kinda feels like when I saw the first pikmin game. I know it's based on the toad levels on 3d world, but it's nice to see something completely new coming after all the sequels.
Kit's so cute.
Nice. Now I have to hold off on buying a Razer Deathadder for my PC.
Man, I have to wait until christmas... Well, at least christmas will be all the more fun! =D
That is pretty cool, not that I need any reason to go back to the wonderful levels in SM3DW, but this will freshen them up a bit! I wasn't intending to get this game anyway, and I definitely wasn't gonna be able to pick it up this side of Christmas, so the delay in Europe didn't bother me, but I may just have to get it in the New Year! So cute
Toad finally gets his own game. Also the lack of jumping really makes you think outside the box. Will definitely get this...
@Omarpixel9 A or another? I'm on my 3rd Deathadder, with regular use mine tend to break down almost precisely after 2 years - right in time for warranty, except once. Still haven't found anything that fits my palm better though.
As for Captain Toad, I gotta say, at first I was indifferent but this is really looking better and better with each piece of footage. I was worried that the content might just not be there, but for $40, it's hard to resist. I'm a sucker for these kind of puzzlers, I just hope there is at least some challenge to it. Anyways, if the reviews hold up I'm definitely going to get this Day1.
STop it im already convinced
The best thing under the Christmas tree this year. Sorry EU/UK peeps.
As excited as I was over the new Star Wars trailer, that's how excited my girlfriend was over this Captain Toad video.
@Arcamenel I was just thinking the same thing.
This game should be pretty fun, but after this, I really hope Nintendo goes for an "epic" style game, ala Mario 64 and the Galaxies. Either Galaxy 3 or a whole new concept, but I hope the feel they go for is epic over cutesy. SM3DW and this are SMOTHERED in "look how cute everything is!" and it takes away from the feel of the game, imo. (The games are still good, just not on the level of the absolute classic Marios)
@rjejr I'm hoping my choice to change from instore preorder to online preorder for this nets me it in 2014 despite actual release on January 2nd. (My prediction being that for a guaranteed January 2nd delivery they'll need to ship earlier so it'll come before January 1st)
Futureshop in Canada had a $10 off if you preordered..so picked it up for $35. Got an email today saying they received stock and now just waiting on the release day.
Cant wait!
I'm avoiding all clips of this game to prevent spoilers
@Grumblevolcano - If you told that to anybody at Nintendo HQ I'm sure some heads would explode as I don't think anybody there understands calendars. If they did, they wouldn't withhold a finished game - we saw the entire game at the mall on Tuesday, not just a demo but every single level, the game is done - until a week after Christmas.
Good luck w/ the plan, I think it has a chance of working.
I'm not gonna watch this either, seen enough to be attracted, so I'll wait for reviews about the level of challenge and variety before ultimately deciding. Will it be 1-2 player, or can more play?
My name was in the article!
I was misled by "the origins of Captain Toad"
I'm avoiding Captain Toad footage ever since the last Nintendo Direct, it is soooo difficult to resist, but only one more week, I should be strong enough lol
I was on the fence when i heard about it, but i think i want this now.... Might not get it on release date, but will get probably soon after...
Stooped people going on for 14 minutes.... How do they get to call this a Nintendo Minute?!?
Im excited for Captain Toad bit i dont think anyone was really looki g for a full retail release. I was looking for a $20-$30 eShop download. That wouod jave been fun! Ive actually lost some steam from what I see as an overly excited project.
Sometimes games benefit from being small.
