It has long been rumoured that The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask would be coming to the Nintendo 3DS to join its N64 sibling Ocarina of Time, and it has finally been confirmed during today's Nintendo Direct broadcast.
The adventure was originally released in 1999, and is considered to be one of the most unique instalments in the entire series. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D will arrive on the 3DS in Spring next year, and will naturally be available as both a retail release and a digital download on the eShop.
In Europe, a special Majora's Mask bundle will be released which includes a steelbook case, poster and pin badge.

Ahhh... The more mature one of the two best Zelda games (the other being Ocarina, of course). I have no idea why, but I was never interested in getting the OoT 3D remake... But this... This is something I will surely consider seriously.

I've played Ocarina of Time so much over the years that I didn't have any use for the 3DS version, but this is something that I'm actually interested in. Above everything, I hope this does well enough sales-wise to communicate to Nintendo that we still want unique, emotional, atmospheric games.

Oh, yes. This is one of the very few Zelda games I haven't played, and I'll be happy to rectify that on my 3DS.
Now I only need an HD remake of Skyward Sword with regular controls, and I'll be pretty much done with my backlog in the series.

An announcement like this would never satisfy me without any details.
I can imagine parents getting this for their kids and oh god the troubles its gonna cause. But I've never played it and it does look creepy so sure why not let's get it I did get oot and enjoyed that!
@minotaurgamer Since when is 3.36 million sales a failure? Especially for a game at the end of a system's life. It didn't have Ocarina of Time sales, but for the circumstances it did very well. Majora's mask has also gained a huge cult following in recent years. And on one of the most popular systems of this generation, if you don't think this game will be a hit you're the one that's wrong.

@minotaurgamer It almost sold more than that atrocious Skyward Wavesword at least. Also, keep in mind that both Majora's and Skyward were released at the end of their respective console's lifespans.
But, which one of the N64 and the Wii had the largest install base? That's right, the Wii.
On topic: I am overjoyed beyond words, Majora's Mask is my all time favorite Zelda game and I will buy the $@!# out of this game. My guess is that most people will buy it regardless of previous experience with the Zelda series or MM in particular, just because the simple fact that Zelda games are so darn good (except for SS which has lousy controls).

I'm happy for fans of the game, but I wouldn't double-dip on this one. I still like the game, but I always found it in the same category as Kingdom Hearts, FFVII, and Persona 4. Good, but not as good as the rabid fanbase makes it out to be.

Well people were right to remain hopeful all along. I do hope they fix some of the game's weirder aspects though, as both some of the design and art is visibly design under rough time constraints.

I never played the original on N64. I had moved on to PC gaming by the time it was released and I missed out on a lot of the great games near the end of the N64's life cycle. I will absolutely be getting this game!

This game creeped me out as a child, i could never get past the first town, then that creepy moon face would kill me.

@6ch6ris6 I really encourage you to check it out. It really has a different feel from OoT and it is a really evocative game. It's not as epic as OoT but it tops it other, more subtle ways.
I thought this would never see daylight but I guess I was wrong. I just hope this is also the end of Zelda remakes. Also probably gonna buy it although I wasn't enjoying the VC version on Wii too much.

My thoughts exactly, This isn't just good news. It's a hint that VC N64 games will not come. Why would they release N64 remakes fullpriced on cartridges when they're working on building a N64 VC library?
