When Nintendo announced DLC for Mario Kart 8 it caused quite a stir, not least because it'll incorporate other much-loved franchises into the racer. There'll be The Legend of Zelda x Mario Kart 8 in November and Animal Crossing x Mario Kart 8 in May 2015, with each pack also incorporating other IPs such as F-Zero.
Details are slowly being revealed in terms of what will be included in these packs, and Nintendo UK has tweeted some concept art of The Master Cycle, which will have "plenty of horse power" (geddit?) when it arrives in November's DLC. You can see this below.

Do you like the look of this new bike, and do you plan to take it for a spin with any characters other than Link? Let us know.

Futuristic zelda when
@KLZ
Never.
Awww... no Epona?
This looks cool, but I'm not fond of bikes. Can test it when it arrives, though.
Beautiful. Now I can fit in with the 'normal' boys and talk about my favourite vehicle...
Mario Kart 8: when Link stopped being green.
Link on a motorcycle?! THE PROPHECY HAS BEEN FULFILLED! D:
Bikes are my thing in MK8 so I probably will use this one plenty. Why didn't they just make an Epona bike tho? Either way, can't wait.
Nice bike! I can't wait to drive the new tracks, and some old favourites!
Link The Hero Of Racing
Date?
I'll almost certainly pre-order the package deal a day or 2 before it comes out but I'm only getting it for the 8 + 8 tracks, I always race as my Mii.
That looks great. Personally, I'd like to see the whole range of Mario sports shifted into a Nintendo sports brand and incorporate all IPs as Smash does.
So will the Hylian shield protect against a blue shell?
Psssssh! Mr. Scooty's still the best... What? I'm serious!
Shyguy + Mr. scooty = unstoppable me
The name in German is Eponator..!!! Amazing!!
If it's fast and has outside drifting, I'll definitely use this.
This is a pretty good looking bike and makes sense for Link..... but I don't like cycles so probably not gonna use it much
I'm pretty much in it for the 16 tracks anyway the karts and characters are just extra
Epona would've been great. Just imagine the Luigi stare down as Epona passes him by, that would be priceless.
I really enjoy the design of this even though I'm not a big fan of the motorcycles in general. I'm really looking forward to this DLC.
I never use bikes in MK8. It felt like it's hard to pull drifting. My kid will probably like it though.
It would be cool if Epona was in. Not a Epona kart or bike, but Epona herself. It would be so weird, but it would probably be hilarious.
Nintendo has really mastered the fine arts of DLC, milking the hell out of their cash cows. Some people may like these type of thing, but I preferred Ninty spend more time making good games rather than doing all these superficial things (which includes selling themes for 3DS)!
Nintendo, you've changed!

Holy wow ! it looks really good tbh, cant wait to play ^_^
@Nintendian they had to move on... they cannot keep their business model the same way as years ago
but I think it's a good thing, since it makes it more appealing for new generations
@DiscoGentleman
Thanks. After posting the comment I remembered that the Spirit Train uses coal, so he is not green all the time.
That looks sweet!
I don't know guys... It looks pretty ugly to me :/ The artwork looks cool tho
I wonder if the shields lift up when you're gliding...
This seems sensible to use a Bike- how would Epona do stunts on the jumps?
looks awesome cant wait
So there's the Blue Falcon, B Dasher and Master Cycle. What's the last one?
Wish they would've given us Wind Waker- Link.
Move over Cloud.
I want exactly this but for Samus. Modeled after her Dark Suit. With morph balls for wheels.
@PvtOttobot Ha ha! Brilliant! Me too!
I think this is pretty cool. I'm still going to stick with my trusty Larry Koopa, but it'll be neat to have Link be one of the other 11 racers.
Mainly though I just care about the new Cups. That's worth the money right there.
This is amazing normally im garbage with bikes but Im definitely excited for this and can't wait to use it
Sorry Epona, it's time for the glue factory.
@LtAldoRaine trying to picture epona with a parachute and laughing my butt off.
@LUIGITORNADO Maybe a retro technology, like with Lanayru in SS
@noctowl Assuming you're not joking by linking to a Wikipedia article, what's so clean about having to take care of a bunch of carbon and toxic products?
Yo that's dope. But no other characters should ever set butt on that machine though (except maybe Mario)
@ KLZ @LUIGITORNADO Skyward sword
it just doesn't fit to the mario kart theme
Only really bothered about the new courses, it'll take a lot for me not to use Wario, and I hope new vehicles don't break the balance.
Words cannot describe how much I resent this degration... well, bye-bye, MK8 online. I'm not putting up with what Nintendo does to Link.
@Nintendian Man, what was that? I'm still laughing like an idiot!
I'm more interested by the suggestion of racing in Hyrule, but the bike looks pretty cool : D
Looks like I'll have me a new favorite bike to use.
Aw dern, I dislike bikes. There will be some nice new themed karts though surely
This kind of now makes me want a mario x zelda game.
@Kaze_Memaryu Wait til you see what they've got him doing in the next Mario Party game. You'll literally die of indignation.
So odd to see Link on a bike. But then again I guess it isn't a crazy stretch when he's driven a train in the series. I also see no reason why at one point there couldn't be some sort of Zelda title that actually took place in the future. I know there'd be backlash at first. But Windwaker had backlash at first, yet now it is regarded as a classic. Can't let the initial wave of reaction for the showcasing of a new idea dictate whether or not to go all the way through with it, people are often scared of what they don't understand.
@Stu13 Can't wait! /sarcasm
Well, I've heard about The Zelda Cycle before, but this...
I'm hoping it has faster acceleration and inside-drifts...
Well the folks that called an Epona bike were almost correct!
@andrea987 Ba-dum-tish nice one haha
That's dumb.
It's dumb that he's in the game at all.
Get ready for a flood of Links during online multiplayer.
I just think of all of the Mario characters that weren't included as a trade-off for metal and baby versions. Thinking of Wiggler from MK7 in particular, but there are plenty of other examples. Petey Piranha would be hilarious.
The crossover feels forced. I mean, it's not like MK8 DLC wouldn't sell otherwise, but it's the same as shoehorning IPs into unrelated games. Because they can? I don't get it. Should just make it NintendoKart at this rate.
@Nintendian I disagree. I think that Nintendo has done a great job with this. Steele Diver is free to play, just $10 for more missions. Rusty's Real Deal- Just a $1.50 a pop. Mario Golf- $50, I get 11 full courses, plus six 9 hole courses. I'll be playing that well into next year. For just $12, you increase the number of tracks by 50 percent. That's a steal and will add another year to the playability of the game.
@Vineleaf I'm fine with the adding new characters, but I also think that they would have done well to add the others missing- especially Boo and Diddy Kong. Maybe they will come out with another DLC for those.
Oh boy! I can't wait till 2015! I want to ride it in the new Zelda game! Make it happen Nintendo! Make it happen!
Very nice bike, cant wait to see it in the game.
That's awesome!!
Siiiiiiick bike!!
I generally run cars, but sometimes I ride motorcycles. I love the look of this.
I wish when they would give us a specific date in November already...
I can't stop laughing. The ridiculousness of all of this is priceless
Can't wait to use this!
I bet it has the same stats as the Duke. What is needed is more types not just skins for the same type.
(And Fire Hopping for inside drift in the interest of fairness).
"The Master Cycle"?
There was a missed opportunity here to name whatever Link rides "Epona".
It is interesting reading the objections. I remember many of the same ones when smash first came out. Look how that turned out...
I don't know. I just can't imagine Link on a motorcycle.
@Ryu_Niiyama I can see your point, but Mariokart predates Smash enough to make a difference, and Smash isn't the be-all, end-all of a successful game franchise. More than anything, though, they've skipped over so many Mario characters for Mariokart to dump in other IPs that it's puzzling. There are possibilities, but the holes left by Boo and the like not being in the game seem a bigger deal. Again, call it Nintendokart and model it on Smash, but that's a much different game.
@Vineleaf I still don't understand the fuss, yeah some favourites aren't there (Funky was my player of choice on Wii), but it just gives people the chance of finding new favourites. If anything, characters from Rare's game belong less than other NIntendo characters, as Diddy and Funky never appeared in a Mario game other than MK and vice versa, and Sonic seems a better choice to me as aside from Smash, Sonic and Mario have shared a few games. Of course, that is still just being over technical in trying to work out who belongs and who doesn't - the main criteria is that it should be cool and fun to play.
@MadAdams81 Maybe my confusion is coming across as overly negative. I've already purchased this DLC. The choices for characters have just seemed odd, and to me it feels like they're stuffing in Link and Isabelle wherever they can. With DLC, I would have expected an expanded Mario lineup first and foremost. Yes, they have many mote track opportunities this way, so that's cool, but I'd like to see a Boo, a Petey, a Wiggler. Way more than the current projections. As an aside, I'm more confused why we need another iteration each of Mario and Peach. Between that and the Koopalings, it just feels out of balance.
Maybe it's an Amiibo move? If that's the case, and this is where MK is going to go, then I want Fox and Kirby.
@KLZ Same here, this looks rad,I was thinking from a long time ago that a futuristic zelda should be like starwarsesque or final fantasy kind of futuristic setting, and also thought that a bike would fit the future link, guess we might see the original futuristic concept of zelda someday.
@Captain_Gonru - "For your sake, I'm hoping they keep the bundle deal going."
Well the Hyrule Warriors DLC comes out in about 63 minutes so I'm not too worried about the pre-order DLC package offer going away until after the 1st DLC is out.
Also, if you look at the way the Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 deal is set up - buy B1 for $30, get B2 for $30, or buy B2 for $50 get B1 for $10, so it equals $60 either way, it's possible they'll still give a discount on the 2nd pack as long as you buy the 1st before the 2nd comes out. I won't risk that and will buy the package before the 1st comes out - which admittedly would be a lot easier if we actually had a date - but not much before.
On second thought, maybe your right and I should buy it in Oct just to be on the safe side.
I am more interested in the courses than the new Zelda character or bike.
This is a much better alternative than Epona.
Sorry guys, but horses don't drift.
@startropicike I always pictured a futuristic zelda more in the venue of samurai jack but I'm sure if nintendo does at some point it would be cool.
