With just over a month until release, the hype for Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire is starting to build towards a crescendo. Not shy of feeding that excitement, The Pokémon Company has unleashed full details on new Mega Evolutions and features for the upcoming titles, which initially came out in Corocoro magazine scans.

Mega Latias and Mega Latios En

First of all we have Mega Latios, which'll be found in Omega Ruby, and Mega Latias, which'll be in Alpha Sapphire. Details on these are below. These high-flying Dragon- and Psychic-type Pokémon can Mega Evolve and fly through the Hoenn region; you can jump on for a ride, too. This travelling is called Soar, and flying into 'Mirage' spots will also allow you to catch rare Pokémon such as the following:

  • Ho'Oh
  • Lugia
  • Dialga
  • Palkia
  • Reshiram
  • Zekrom

It's also been announced that to encounter and catch Latias or Latios players will need an Eon Ticket for the Southern Island, with details to follow on how these will be obtained later in the year.

Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill En

Next up we have two more Mega Evolutions — Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill. Details on these below.

  • Mega Pidgeot — With increased Special Attack and High Speed, can learning flying-type move Hurricane; also has a No Guard Ability.
  • Mega Beedrill — Poisonous stingers boost its Attack, while Bug-type move Fell Stinger raises its Attack stat by two stages. The Adaptability Ability also "raises the power of its moves of the same type from the standard 150% to 200%".
Pokenav Plus

Finally we have the PlayNav Plus, with the following details taken from the press release.

PokéNav Plus is a new tool designed to help players navigate their journey across the Hoenn region. PokéNav Plus is packed with applications to help players find hidden or specific types of Pokémon in tall grass via the DexNav, check all kinds of Hoenn region information via the AreaNav, and view news from around Hoenn and from other players whom you’ve passed with BuzzNav.

The PlayNav function offers three popular features that first appeared in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y— the Player Search System (PSS), Pokémon-Amie, and Super Training. The PSS allows players to trade Pokémon and battle with others nearby or around the world with a Wi-Fi connection. Trainers can play with their Pokémon and feed them treats called Poké Puffs in Pokémon-Amie, and the bond between Trainer and Pokémon will grow. Super Training is a fun way to prepare your Pokémon team for battle. PlayNav also allows players to manage their O-Powers, special advantages that can be kept or shared with others as the game progresses, and view announcements via the Holo Caster.

The distribution of the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version also begins across Europe, Australia and Japan on 15th October, so keep your eyes on Nintendo Life for details on that.
