Thanks to a rating on the Australian Board of Classification, we can reveal that Capcom's 2003 Onimusha spin-off Onimusha Tactics is coming to the Wii U Virtual Console.
Based on the popular Onimusha series of action titles, this Game Boy Advance release takes place on a grid-based battlefield where the player has to defeat opposing forces in a turn-based conflict. It's a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics, as the name suggests. Although it doesn't follow the plot of its home console predecessors, several familiar faces make an appearance during the adventure.
There's no word on when Onimusha Tactics will eventually be released on the Virtual Console, but the moment we know, you'll know too.

Seems interesting
@Tsurii897 You should try the mainseries though, excellent games all around.
I don't know this existed, very interesting indeed but I'm boycotting GBA games on the WiiU as long as they are not one the 3DS too, supporting cross-buy. It's just too ridiculous and even for Nintendo there have to face-palm-limits involved.
@Ralek85
Nintendo should do GBA crossbuy. But you can only buy it on the WiiU and you can download it both on your WiiU and 3DS.
Or they can sell it on both systems but the Wii U will be 10-20% cheaper and the only one which offers the cross buy promo. Well, to push the Wii U.
@outburst Not the worst idea I heard
The aussie rating outs apparently dont mean anything, still nothing on CV: Aria of Sorrow that was "outed" 4 months ago.
Hey guys....GBA games arent coming to 3DS. You either enjoy them on an original GBA, a WiiU, an emulator, or not at all. You could boycott, kick, scream, laugh, write a Tomodachi Life song about it, tweet it, post it on facebook, sign something on Change.Org, photoshop something about it, post an amusing picture on Miiverse, create a meme.........it wont change anything.
Nintendo - "Hey, I know what we should do that will be a lot of effort for little-to-no reward, we should do the difficult job of porting GBA games to 3DS and then give them out for free for the people who buy GBA games on WiiU"
Porting to 3DS isnt dropping a movie file onto a USB and calling it a day. It takes effort from employees that need to be compensated, Nintendo isnt a videogame charity drive.
Yup, its going to be released among the other selection of announced capcom VC titles in about 6 years and over the span of 12 -.-
Jokes aside, i have basicly no hopes for a release really.
They announced the gameboy Megaman totles for europe TWICE now, and they are still not out. They announced a giant poor of VC games comming to the VC and still havent started putting them on there.
So yeah, i believe them once it happened.
@BertoFlyingFox
If it will make half of the 40+ million 3DS owners to buy a Wii U, it will be worth it for Nintendo.
@Ralek85 Or they can continue selling then on the Wii U like they've been doing abs integrating Gamepad use into it as well as more defined graphics thanks to the Wii U. Gonna complain more get a Wii U in the future.
@Tsurii897 The Tactics series are extremely fun to play. Really all the plots fire Final Fantasy are easy to follow.
@Ralek85 Completely agree.
Is the original available in the US?
@outburst
It wouldnt do that though. Not sure how cross-buy will all of a sudden fill 3DS owners with the need to buy a WiiU.
"I was never going to get a WiiU....but they give me two versions of Metroid Fusion for buying one! Which means that it's totally worth buying a $250+ WiiU for" --Said no one ever.
WiiU games sell the WiiU...not VC cross-buy which has been released to little effect and really only exists because Vita is in the horrible slump it's in.
@BertoFlyingFox
I didn't say 3DS owners will suddenly buy a Wii U just for the cross buy. But you are giving them more reason to buy one, hence the point of the promo. Wii U games will come. But currently, those existing games wasn't enough to entice gamers enough to buy one. And did you really think 1 or 2 VC games will make someone buy a Wii U? I was thinking multiple VC games.
@ModestFan93 What are you talking about ? "more defined graphics" ... I got a WiiU but why would I wanna play a portable game on my homeconsole, there is nothing wrong with having that option ... als long as it an option and not the only choice available for some arbitrary reason.
I am hoping Capcom brings Mega Man Zero 3 to WiiU. I know the first two are already planned, so I hope they get to the third.
I remembered playing this game. Just do not expect it to be anything related to Onimusha series.
Another game that l missed playing when it first came out. Will get a purchase from me. I really enjoy playing VC/GBA games on my gamepad, as this one is not for the big screen by the looks of things.
@Einherjar Amen! I've gotten tired of hearing people say that. If my Gamepad charger worked, I would love GBA VC even more!
@BertoFlyingFox I know! Give me Battle Network!
@FalconPunch Hey, dont get me wrong, i love the GBA VC, especially the picture quality, since its a hassle to get a GC+GB Player combo to look good on a new TV, but Capcom is a sack of hot air when it comes to their release schedules.
Like i said, i will only believe them once i have all their games on my HDD and not a moment sooner.
Other devs showed some surprising releases though, so the GBA VC was definitly a worthy addition.
I loved this game back when it was on the GBA. I finished it and it was excellent but it really is a step below Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
yay
@Einherjar i understand you issues with capcom but if you look at the wii u vc the only developer who has supported it more is nintendo themselves. im sure it will get a release
For those of you who are wondering, this is a pretty good game. Definitely worth it if you're into SRPGs. It's got a lot of competition on the GBA in that category (Fire Emblems, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced) but it's worth a go for sure. It's relatively easy, so this would be a place to start if you're new to the genre.
