Do you want to get away from all that pre-made drama of Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl’s Story Mode and just relax in the soothing terrors of pure dungeon cartography? Then Classic Mode is for you.
Classic Mode offers a straight-up Etrian Odyssey experience for those who grew up with the series or newcomers who just want to dive into its unique elements. Instead of the fixed characters of Story Mode, Classic Mode players can start out with a fresh guild of five picked out of nine starting classes: Landsknecht, Survivalist, Protector, Dark Hunter, Medic, Alchemist, Troubadour, Ronin and Hexer.
According to the ATLUS website for Etrian Odyssey Untold, the plot in Classic Mode is slightly different from that of the Story Mode and saved data can be carried over between modes.
Don’t forget that the demo for Etrian Odyssey Untold will be available in the North America eShop on 16th September, with saves transferable to the full game. It'll arrive proper in North America on 1st October, with both a downloadable eShop version and a box set offered for pre-orders and the first printing.

We just got Etrian Odyssey IV here which i'm enjoying, i'll likely pick this one up as well when it finally hits the UK. Think i'll stick to Classic mode though, a story and pre-made characters would kill my immersion.
they should of never released this is oct.. Maybe late NOV... the new pokemon game will kill it. Those who can only afford one game a month will grab pokemon over this.
@slidecage actually I'll definitely be getting this over pokemon lol
oh snap though, I didn't even know the demo was coming out early. that just made my day :3
There are people who "grew up" with this game? It was only like six years ago...
@thatguyEZ If you checked the forums you would've known!
Can't wait and I hope I'm through at least another game by then. Still play 4 games at once and would like to be donw with SMT IV!
It feels like 9/10 of that minute and a half long trailer were spent in menus and maps.
@Assassinated That's the whole point to it. It's not a simple adventure where everything is laid out for you. It puts your organizing skills to the test. And while some people might be annoyed by the whole map drawing, this also allows for detailed structuring instead of having to constantly look up guides - you MAKE the guide just the way you like/want/need it.
@Darkness3131 You can and will make your own maps in Story Mode. No worries about that. Other than the premade party, voice acting, and awesome animated videos, it's still Etrian Odyssey at its core. Though, personally, I am very glad they included a Classic Mode. Going to unlock the two extra classes- which you do by beating story mode this time around- and then just enjoy my time with my personal guild in Classic .
