For a number of months Nintendo UK has been hosting regular Mario Kart 7 community races, but those that want to compete and meet other racers will now have a chance to do so in more detail with the new Facebook app that's been launched.
As well as weekly races, the new app will allow for greater interaction and competition; if you enter your Mario Kart 7 Mii name you can link to your Facebook account, with the following perks and events set to be on offer.
Hall of Fame
Race your way to the top and get immortalised in the Hall of Fame. Every month, the app will keep track of the best racers across the Nintendo UK Mario Kart 7 Community and induct someone permanently into the Hall of Fame.
Leaderboards
- Event Races - Get bragging rights by beating your friends and other Mario Kart 7 players from across the UK in community races every week and special monthly event races. The most recent race leaderboards will also be showcased on the community page.
- Time Trials – Think you can’t be beaten on Melody Motorway or Rainbow Road? Prove it with the Time Trial leaderboards. Each track will have its own permanent leaderboard so you can show off your skills on your favourite tracks and battle it out for the record times.
Community
Join in the fun with other Mario Kart 7 fans online. Swap community codes, set up races with other players and participate in Mario Kart discussion on the community page.
This MK7 Community Application is live now, but only works through Facebook on browsers, and not smartphone/tablet apps. Check it out at its official page.
Are you going to sign up and race for a place on the leaderboards?

I imagine with mario kart 8 things like this will be built into mii verse ?
@Warruz Hopefully, I imagine Nintendo may go all out to make MK8 a bit of a showcase for Miiverse and the Nintendo Network, as online was a big thing for MK Wii and MK7.
People still play MK7???? lol
@bezerker99
In the all format charts in the UK, MK7 was still in the top 40!
@bezerker99 Yeah they do. You mad?
@bezerker99
Yeah I do. I've bought at least 20 new 3DS games in the last year, and even so I still play MK7. Best Mario Kart on a handheld to date imo, and it was good enough people actually compared it to home console versions. That in itself speaks volumes for its quality.
@bezerker99 Too funny someone would say this when I bet at least 50,000 people per day login to play Mariokart. That's probably a very low number.
i just bought kart 7 the other day... KART OR DIE
It's a great game, I'll have to play online again sometime (got my VR up to 15k before I called it quits). But I still verse time trial ghosts when i streetpass someone
@bezerker99 I do!!
Mario Kart is my favorite gaming series and MK7 is my favorite kart to date!
Is this only for UK or can anyone from around the world join?
I'd love to be able to compete. I joined a group here on NL, "Mario Kart Mondays," and that was cancelled this week after only three weeks of competition. I also miss the NL competitions they used to have as those were great fun! I'll check out the site to see if I can join.
edit: Just checked out the site and I was able to join. There's a tournament tomorrow from 7pm to 9pm UK time. I'll be there!
I'm glad u all still play and enjoy the game! RAAAAWRRR!!! I need to dig my copy out and play it some time.
What about USA? WHAT ARE WE CHOP LIVER?
Sweet... Maybe, I`ll get to see my name up in lights on the hall of fame someday soon.
I still paly Mario Kart Wii... but unfortunately Nintendo "nerfed" MKWii on the Wii U.... You have to use an old Wii to access Mario Kart Wii Tournament mode
I cant wait for Mario Kart 8 (Hopefuly with heaps of retro tracks and extra non Nintendo Racers)
It says in the "Term and Conditions" that its for UK residents only... I really want to join up lol.. awesome if there were prizes to win and live tournament invites and stuff...
