It's Thursday, so that means it's Nintendo Download time. This week brings us a rather lengthy list of options for both 3DS and DSi, with both Wii U and Wii missing out. There really is a lot to get through, so let's get on with it.
3DS eShop
Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo (Pixel Toys, $7.99) — This 2D platforming debut from Pixel Toys originated on iOS, but this 3DS version includes 60 story levels and 30 challenge stages, representing a 50% increase in content over the original. You run, jump, swing and bash your way to collecting as many acorns as possible, and we think it's rather good at those simple activities; you can see our strong recommendation in our Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo review, or read what the developer told us about it in our interview with Pixel Toys.
Mystery Murders: Jack the Ripper (Microvalue, $9.99) — This adventure strategy game takes in the storylines of three different characters trying to solve the riddles and crimes of Jack the Ripper in Victorian London; it's grisly enough that its Nintendo game page is age-gated. We'll deduct clues and learn more about the case to bring you a review, soon.
Witch & Hero (CIRCLE Entertainment, $3.99) — This top-down combat title may have a promising premise, combining battles, light RPG doses and retro-styled visuals, but the final result is a major disappointment. In our opinion it's sloppy, poorly designed and a chore to play, but if you want full reasoning you can read our Witch & Hero review.
3DS eShop Temporary Discounts
This week sees the three Guild01 titles reduced (hopefully preceding confirmation of the Guild02 equivalents), along with a light-hearted title from last Halloween and the final day of Pokédex 3D Pro's discount.
Liberation Maiden (Level-5, $4.99 until 30th May, normally $7.99)
Crimson Shroud (Level-5, $4.99 until 30th May, normally $7.99)
Aero Porter (Level-5, $2.99 until 30th May, normally $4.99)
Dress To Play: Cute Witches! (EnjoyUp Games, $1.99 until 24th April, normally $3.99)
Pokédex 3D Pro (Nintendo, $9.99 until 19th April, normally $14.99)
3DS Retail Downloads
LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins (TT Fusion, $39.99) — This prequel to the Wii U title comes to 3DS with plenty of ambition, offering up the same vast city to explore and missions based within these locations. While a welcome opportunity to spend more time with Chase McCain and the city with such character, we felt some technical issues held it back in our LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins review.
Harvest Moon 3D: The Tale of Two Towns (Natsume, $29.99) — Despite being released in stores way back in 2011, this one is only just available, from today, on the eShop. Essentially a DS re-release but with stereoscopic visuals and a few small extras thrown in, we felt that this was a fairly modest effort in our Harvest Moon 3D: The Tale of Two Towns review.
Tetris Axis (Nintendo, $TBC) — This is another retail title from late 2011 making its debut as a download offering on the eShop, bringing some Tetris goodness to the 3DS. Check out our Tetris Axis review for details of our recommendation.
Puzzler Brain Games (Maximum Games, $9.99) — Available from 23rd April, this provides 20 puzzle types to tackle, with a 90 day programme designed to help you improve your cognitive skills. This will also be available on DSiWare via the DSi Shop.
Puzzler World 2013 (Maximum Games, $9.99) — Also available from 23rd April, this is an impressively large collection of puzzles — apparently over 1200 — to play at leisure; includes Wordsearch, Sudoku, Pathfinder, Spot the Difference, Codeword, Link-A-Pix, and Split Words puzzles and more. This will also be available on DSiWare via the DSi Shop.
DSiWare
Working Dawgs: Rivet Retriever (Big John Games, 200 Nintendo Points) — This second title in the Working Dawgs series switches from puzzling to platformer, and represents the last DSiWare game from Big John Games as it moves onto 3DS and Wii U eShop projects. With 20 levels and a budget price point this dog may have its day, but we'll review this soon to let you know what we think.
Nintendo Video
Final Episode of BearShark Season 1 (Free) — The newest hit series from Nintendo Video wraps up this week with the final episode of BearShark Season 1. In a fitting end, Bear and Shark chase Steve through a nursing home. Don't miss the fast paced action and be sure to tune-in for a very special announcement!

Aw man Thomas you got my hopes up I thought NA was getting the GBC Harvest Moon this week. Looks like I will just get Crimson Shroud than.
Isn't Harvest Moon 3D: The Tale of Two Towns NA version the one that freezes? I wonder if Natsume, Inc. would ever release a patch for it. That's kinda the only thing that discouraged me from playing it too long. When you've done so much and you forget to save, it freezes and that's just sad.
Niiice a lot of people will be joining Crimson Shroud with me.
Hopefully that date and plan sticks!
Anyways getting Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo and Witch and Hero today, along with some DLC!
@divinealpha Something for you all to look forward to (being a Brit, I have no idea what BearShark is).
Nothing for Wii U this week, that kinda sucks a bit.
I'm getting Witch and Hero and maybe Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo if I have enough money left over and I'm buying LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins next week when it comes out at GameStop.
no demos... : ( oh well ill just keep on watching the legend of zelda gameplay
I'm getting Tetris Axis and Aero Porter for myself, and Dress to Play Cute Witches for my niece.
liberation maiden & crimson shroud and maybe aero porter too
it's weird that in canada at least lego city for the 3ds is 29.99 in stores but everywhere else it's 34.99
Nothing for me. I'd get LCU TCB, but I'm waiting a while first.
@ThomasBW84 BearShark is an animated short series about a bear and a shark that team up and make a human's (Steve) life miserable by always chasing him and trying to eat him. It might be a funny concept, but the animation style kind of puts me off.
By the way, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins is $39.99 in the U.S., which I've updated. Our man checked and found that price, though previously I thought I'd heard it would be $34.99.
Nothing.
LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins is marked down to $31.99 from $39.99 at GameStop.
@chanchandesu Tale of Two Towns is an absolutely amazing version of Harvest Moon — not quite the best I've ever played, but maybe the second best. Sadly, Natsume has not patched it, but there are a couple of easy ways to avoid freezing. I've logged more than 400 hours without a single freeze. It lags on a fully planted farm, but it really doesn't bother me. If you like HM and have played some other iterations, this is a can't-miss.
They seriously need to sort out the Wii u drought. The 3ds is flourishing with tons of content . New demos each week need to start appearing on Wii U like they do on Xbox. And Nintendo really need to sort out the 3rd party support, its beyond a joke now. I hate to say it but I may have to jump ship if nothing improves by December and buy a ps4. I have always backed Nintendo but they need to sort things out
Trine 2 is on sale for $9.99. I will pick it up at that price.
Dinosaur Office > Bear shark
I may go for harvest moon depending on price.
Kirby on Wii U
Aaaaand... No 3DS VC. Again. Thanks a bunch, NOA.
I might be inclined to pick up Tetris Axis at a later date though.
Damn hidden object games. They are fun for what they are but that Jack The Ripper game would have been so much better as a point and click adventure.
I got Kirby's Adventure yesterday, nothing new for me this week.
Looking forward to next week's Wii U update though!
@chanchandesu I picked it up early on in the 3DS' life, because of the slow software start mostly, but the game has never froze on me in about 100 hrs of gameplay. I enjoy it quite a bit, but being someone who wants to know and do everything I can, the game is a little too much for me.
Tetris Axis is a lot of fun as well. It's the perfect game for shorter play sessions. The other modes added aren't going to change the world but they are fun as well.
Oh my, awesome week!
@jpfan1989 I agree. I love Dinosaur Office. Wish they'd make more of those now instead of focusing on BearShark.
Kirby's Adventure is the only thing that's happened to the Wii U this week in NA.
I was considering downloading one of the discounted Guild01 games but after watching some gameplay, I can't say they interested me.
Gonna give Liberation Maiden a chance.
Thursday, what is it good for? Ab-so-lute-ly NOTHING!!!
Is Tetris Axis worth getting if you already have Tetris DS?
@Ryno - I can recommend Trine 2. It's quite a lot of fun.
I don't think I'll pick up anything this week. I have plenty of projects I can work on anyways.
Aero Porter for me!
No 3DS Virtual Console again??? Hey, Nintendo, don't you want my money anymore?
@Berserker..."SAY IT AGAIN, YA'LL"
Wow now THATS eShop week
I'm morbidly curious about the Jack the Ripper game. I really enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper point and click adventure and I like murder mysteries. Looking forward to a review.
@Tasuki Not really, sure it got ar tetris but it's nothing special.
The are a few games that I will probaubly get but I will have to get another card.
Dammit. When it said Harvest Moon at the top, I thought it meant the GBC release, but it's only ToTT which I already have. Bah!
Nothing for me this week.
Little acorns and Witch and Hero for me this week. Yup taking a chance on Witch and Hero it just looks intriguing to me. Did a little amazon shopping last night.... I already have Pandoras tower in route but I finally picked up Etrian Odyssey IV and I couldn't resist Ace Combat for 11.99 hope its good I think reviews were pretty good
Also little acorns is $7.99 & witch and hero is $4.06
Not getting either.
@Tasuki I think Tetris Axis' party modes beat the daylight out of the extra modes in DS. Just my $0.02. The game's menu system and online interface are awful, but the game play is fine.
squirrel game is 7.99
@Windy I loved Ace Combat. The gameplay is basically identical to Sky Crawlers on the Wii, which is a big plus in my book.
I'll be getting Liberation Maiden this week. I bought Crimson Shroud a while ago. I wanted Aero Porter to be like an airport management game kind of like Sim Tower was for skyscrapers but I can't find much gameplay aside from the bag sorting and I really hope that isn't the whole game.
as anyone else checked the eshop and noticed that tetris Axis is listed as download only? I just wondering if that was an error or something
Oh man I totally don't like the prices they give in Canada lately... Witch and Hero $4.06, Injustice $61.64, Hotel Transylvania $20.44?!
And not to mention that Real Heroes: Firefighter is NOT even available in Canada. Game is US-only.
MAYBE Tetris Axis, if the price is right.
@divinealpha
Five Anna Firefight is new in FEA DLC today.
I want Witch & Hero, Liberation Maiden, Aero Porter, & Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo. I have to wait until next week because I'm broke:(
Well, crud! I'm torn. LEGO City: Undercover, or Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns? I can't decide which to get.
WOW NOTHING FOR THE WIIU? SURPRISE SURPRISE
Well just a couple of days ago i bought Kingdom Hearts DDD(it got a price drop to $20), so nothing for me this week
Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, fighting the secret boss on Proud as Sora isn't the best thing out there >.>
Wonder how hard it will be on Critical.
Ah, so I'm not the only one seeing a $4.06 Witch & Hero. I thought it was a glitch but if I few see it, it must be actual.
I have Crimson Shroud. Liberation Maiden and Areo Porter I'm thinking about now that they are on sale.
@ThomasBW84
I kinda got my hopes up, Nintendo doesn't have Tetris Axis up for you to download. Still says retail only.
Oh wow, there's quite a few things I'm interested in. I think I'll pick up Liberation Maiden for myself and Crimson Shroud for the boyfriend since they're on sale. I am kind of interested in Witch & Hero as well, despite the bad review. It seems to have an odd sort of charm?
I'm also oddly attracted to this Super Little Acorns thing that is going on.
3% of voters are getting Witch & Hero? Thats game BLOWS!
@undead_terror How do you post pictures? Ive been always struggling with that. I always try to post a pic, but it just posts a link on NL instead.
@ngamer155 what you do is type the website code thing up there ^ in between [img][/img]
@undead_terror Ha, very funny
EDIT: Oh, sorry I just saw a picture at first. I refreshed the page and it was fixed.
Since I have this strange mental block past the $5 price point, I got Liberation Maiden and Crimson Shroud.
pretty sure the Puzzler world 2013 is 3ds only... might be wrong but pretty sure its not coming out on the DSIWERE
Lots of content this week, but there's nothing I'm interested in that I don't already have.
Hope people give Liberation Maiden & Crimson Shroud a shot. They're two of the best games on eShop.
@Windy, I hope you enjoy Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy! It really is a great game!
edit seems puzzler world 2013 did come out on the 3ds and Ds in EUROPE
love to see it be the same game on both systems could finally find a use for the 2 2000 dsiwere point cards i have lying around the house
This is my chance to download and play Aero Porter. My Guild01 collection will be complete! (sans the one never released outside the U.S., obviously)
@darklinkinfinite I love Sim Tower. Me and my wife used to play it constantly on PC. Then I learned it was released on GBA. I still would love to get the GBA version
Tetris Axis is only $10 and can be downloaded now. I paid $30 a while back. This should be an insta-download for many I would asume, especially at that price.
Got Tetris Axis even though I already had it, just to have a copy on my system. Definitely worth it for only $10 and it's supposed to be worth 40 Club Nintendo coins too (20 +10 for early registration +10 for post play I'm guessing, since it only says 20 elsewhere). Now to go use that Save Transfer Utility I thought I'd never use again.
Yikes
Depending on the price, I might get Tetris Axis if it is released in Europe as retail download. I'm normally against downloading retail games (aside from download only retail games like Code of Princess) but it would be great to have a tetris game permanently on my system to play whenever I want to something quick to play.
@mihimarcelo: I feel you, but next week we get Mega Man 4!
