Full Mojo Rampage

For those with better memories and an enthusiasm for WiiWare, NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits may be a title that is regarded with some fondness. A sedate puzzle platformer that made natural use of the Wii Remote, it had such a positive impact on us that we awarded it an impressive 9/10 in our NyxQuest review.

That's the only occasion, to date, that we've seen developer Over The Top Games on a Nintendo platform, though we may eventually see its next project — Full Mojo Rampage. An exploration/action game with an isometric viewpoint, you control a Voodoo keeper working through levels to collect voodoo dolls and mojos, the latter of which can be used boost strength or craft new powers. A major part of the game is seeking help or powers from Gods that'll set challenges, though these characters may deceive and trick you.

It sounds intriguing, and it also makes use of a "procedural level creation algorythm", which basically means that no level will be the same twice as you proceed. It's currently in closed alpha on PC, though it's only a couple of months away from being available as an open alpha, where those who've pre-ordered will start to play; in its blog the developer states that should all go well it'll look into bringing the title to other platforms including, yes, Wii U. It seems like a release that would appear on the eShop, with a final price for the PC title set to be $15.

At the current time this would certainly be the first game of its kind on the Wii U eShop. Let us know what you think about its potential, and your thoughts on this genre, in the comments below.
