Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country Returns developer Retro Studios has moved to a larger premises, hinting that the company is expanding to handle significant support for Nintendo's Wii U console.
According to n1ntendo.nl, the move was very hush-hush, and no press release was issued to mark the event. Instead, Retro has simply quietly updated its address details on various sites:
The old address of Retro Studios was 1835A Kramer Lane, Suite 100. Austin Texas. The new address of Retro Studios is 12345 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, TX 78753. A quick search on Google Maps shows that the information is correct. Retro Studios has added this new address in addition to its Facebook page.
It's no secret that Retro is working on Wii U software, but could this move suggest a much more expanded role than people previously assumed? Time will no doubt tell.

I can't wait to see what Retro has in store for this generation!
12345? Really?
Well, here's hoping to see more from this studio! They have been great so far!
Can't wait to see what comes out on Wii U from them!
@Joshers that's what I was thinking... at least it's easier to remember.
I don't think I've played much from Retro... I know MK7 was partially by Retro, but I don't think I've played anything else from them, but I could be wrong.
Holy crap, their old office is two blocks down the street from the warehouse I worked in last year!
Wii U will be insanely awesome when Retro is involved.
"F-Zero" or "Starfox", which one are you working on, I do wonder...
@Shiryu Zelda!
Retro deserves it.
I eagerly await Retro's first Wii U game.
It's good that they have a new, improved building. Now, make more Mario Kart courses for MK7! ( I keep holding on to the thought that they will make more courses available through DLC )
@3Dash Have you played Metroid Prime or DKCR?
I hope a bigger office means more games to be developed simultaneously!
God, I can't wait to see what they're up too. RETRO is one of my absolute favourite devs.
Anything good for Retro Studios is good for video games in general.
Eh, I wanna see some products from them dang it! We praise them so much, yet they haven't really done much lately! Make me happy!
@HarmoKnight Nope.
@3Dash You haven't played a Metroid Prime game!? Some times I wish I didn't, so I could go back and experience it all over again!!
It would be awesome if Retro Studios did the next Zelda game. I would like to see their spin on the game.
Metroid! Metroid! METROID! A bigger studio can mean a bigger and awesome Metroid game! A Zelda title sounds awesome, the Metroid Blast minigame will satisfy me, but where is another first-person adventure, huh?
@HawkeyeWii Nope, never played a Metroid Prime game. I'm not really into FPSs, or many shooters in general(Except Kid Icarus Uprising, which is probably my favorite game of all time) and I'm not too in to Metroid. I probably won't get around to playing them as I have a ton of other games I need to get.
Well that makes me very excited!
@3Dash
I am not too into Metroid either, thankfully that did not hinder me from trying Super Metroid and the Metroid Prime Trilogy, both really amazing games. I enjoyed DKCR quite a lot too, so as most people here I am excited to see what their latest project will be.
Great news! This will help them make bigger and better games hopefully. I've been playing through Metroid Prime as of late, such a masterpiece.
Hopefully this equates to an increase in titles for the Wii U from them..
They deserve it
Moving to a building numbered 12345 and not calling your building "Fake Street" seems like a massive missed opportunity...
@idork99 omg same here i keep thinking maybe we get some DLC for mario kart 7 or at least add ons like more items or something D:
but hmm interesting maybe bigger games from them to come?
I really want them to do something original, a new IP or something. I would love to see what they can come up with outside of Nintendo franchises.
I know Retro have an amazing reputation, and I have enjoyed many of their games myself, but I would really like them to output some more games. I would like to see them make some original IP. Not to mention smash out some DKCR sequels for the 3DS and WiiU.
This is just great....
I have a feeling that Mario Kart for the Wii U will be done by this dream team. Nintendo need to be acquiring more like them so that they can increase their output whilst still maintaining the quality. I would however love to see what they could do with Zelda
Retro is top quality, like Rare back in the days.
Wait, Retro has a Facebook page? likes them
"Google Maps shows that the information is correct."
Oh, you didn't use Apple Maps? Apple Maps says I live in a lake, kinda like AquaMan.
I have to swim to the surface to get the mail.
@Shiryu Both!
@SPEtheridge That would be nice, though seeing new entries in some franchises that missed the Wii boat would be nice too. Plus I'd like to see them take Samus out for another spin.
@FJOJR
Yeah would be great to see another Metroid, but i keep remembering that raven blade RPG on GCN that they were making i though it looked pretty interesting.
