"Zelda rumour, anyone?"

As a website that prides itself on bringing you the most interesting, relevant and occasionally important Nintendo news, we here at Nintendo Life realise that we've been missing an important weapon in our arsenal: an anonymous source. While we normally prefer to name our sources, whether reporting news from other websites or from our own contacts, we're learning that the biggest stories can only come from those with no name. We've cited an anonymous source occasionally, though that was in relation to Nintendo Download updates due the following day. Now we want the big stories.

The latest to start to gather speed around the web is that a new title in The Legend of Zelda series will arrive on Wii U in 2014. There are details of a huge team working on the new title, a powerful graphics engine and an enormous forest temple larger than Hyrule Field in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This source is reliable because they predicted a concept similar to Miiverse, as well as achievements, for Wii U. Of course, we wouldn't dream of suggesting that these could have been predicted by anyone with common sense, as Nintendo was always going to improve on the social and online weaknesses of Wii.

Still, in the interest of bringing you the hottest news, we're currently working on our own anonymous source. Naturally we can't name him or her, so we'll call them 'Red Squirrel', due to their fondness for Conker's Bad Fur Day. This source is well connected with Nintendo, of course, and we've stocked up on dark trench coats so that we don't attract too much attention when we make our face to face rendezvous.

We've had an initial meeting with Red Squirrel, who confirmed that Nintendo is working on a new Zelda title, but wouldn't say which system, or even if there was more than one Zelda in the works. Squirrel even shared the exciting news that a new 3D Mario title is probably in development for Wii U, and that it's likely to arrive by 2015. Recent comments from Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime were also borne out, as apparently Retro Studios is working on a video game, which is good to know. Our source also shared an unconfirmed report that Nintendo is thinking about future games in franchises such as Kirby, and that a full-fat 3DS Pokémon title is in the works.

These may be educated guesses, but we'll certainly have greater trust in our source should any of these predictions come to fruition.

Of course, we at Nintendo Life will share rumours with you on occasions, because it can be fun to speculate about what games may come in the future. We'll also make sure that it's clear that they are only rumours, and will only apply the full status of confirmed news when it's clearly indisputable fact or quoting named sources; we'll also continue to issue corrections if a story transpires to have any inaccuracies after publication.

And don't forget, Red Squirrel is on the case.
