Australian developer Nnooo has announced it's bringing escapeVektor to 3DS in late 2012.
escapeVektor: Chapter 1 on WiiWare released in 2011 to positive review scores, and
Nnooo will certainly hope the 3DS version meets with the same success.
Nnooo's Nic Watt says:
We were delighted by the reception the WiiWare version of the game received. We originally planned to have four Chapters but have now decided to roll them all into one game and bring it out on these new consoles to reach a wider audience.
Update: Bruce Thomson of Nnooo has confirmed there will be no more escapeVektor instalments on WiiWare, sad news for fans of quality WiiWare titles.
PRESS RELEASE: GDC announcement - Nnooo announces PlayStation®Vita and Nintendo 3DS™ versions of escapeVektor™
Australian based games developer Nnooo has revealed their award-winning game escapeVektor will be coming to both the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. escapeVektor is a retro styled arcade game in which the player controls Vektor, an entity trapped inside the console’s CPU.
The player has to help Vektor escape the CPU which has been holding him captive. In making his escape, Vektor must get through obstacles and avoid enemies, each with different hunting patterns and intelligence. As the player completes the various levels in the game, escape becomes more difficult. New abilities unlock to help the player outwit and destroy the CPU’s army. As the player continues through the game, old code and memories are unlocked which reveal more about Vektor’s past.
“We were delighted by the reception the WiiWare™ version of the game received,” said Nic Watt, Creative Director at Nnooo. “We originally planned to have four Chapters but have now decided to roll them all into one game and bring it out on these new consoles to reach a wider audience.”
The new version of the game will have new enemies and obstacles, plenty of extra levels and online leaderboards. Each console’s unique features will also be highlighted.
“Playing the game in 3D on the Nintendo 3DS is really cool,” said Watt. “With the background to each level pulsing in time to the cool chip-tune soundtrack you really get drawn into game’s environment. For PlayStation Vita players we hope to make use of near™ and location based leaderboards. We’ll also be experimenting with the front and rear touchscreen controls.”
An early build of the Nintendo 3DS version of the game will be showcased at GDC.
escapeVektor for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS is scheduled for release in late 2012.

Yyesss! Instant buy.
Yes! I wanted to play this on the Wii, but thought I would rather want to play this on the go and here it is coming on the 3DS! YAY!!!
As much as I enjoyed escapeVektor on WiiWare, I always felt that it would be better suited to a handheld platform. I'm glad to see that the game was successful enough on WiiWare to make the transition to the 3DS and the PS Vita. I am really looking forward to this.
yyeees
i can totally deal with this being on 3DS. bring it! :3
Everything Wolf said above. This is great news.
I'm loving all this indie attention the 3DS is getting.
So my wii version will now be incomplete or are they planning to put the complete game?
@DarkEdi, yes, the WiiWare version will now be incomplete, because they are no longer going to be releasing episodes 2,3, and 4 on the service. As for 3DS and Vita, they will be getting all 4 episodes at once, as one game.
i want my 500 wiipoints back
@DarkEdi You wil not get it back. But if you want to continue what you played, you will have to get the 3ds or vita version. The wii is pretty much been dead since last year. Did you really expect games to continue on with the system? Sonic episode 2 is not coming either. Deal with it and buy it on other systems.
Interesting. But does this mean digital or cart based?
I got the game as a gift and it is a blast. Not too happy with having the fifth World locked, and apparently being unlocked if you download a previous game of theirs called Pop.
That aside, the game is great and worth your 500 Wii Points. A low price to pay for helping a talented studio grow.
Wow this actually makes me very sad. I loved the WiiWare version, but now I have to deal with the fact that the game will never be complete because they last minute decide to release it for the handheld instead? Why not release it on Vita, 3DS, AND WiiWare? That way, everyone can be happy.
Well, if it's 40 dollars, no.
If it's twenty to thirty, around the actual price, yes.
Sounds neat.
Hey Nnooo, where's the button code to unlock the other stages? I have the Pop bonus level and the eV4 bonus levels. Need the codes for the bonus levels you get by having eV2 and eV3. To get the other medals man!
