According to corporate thinking, today's the day you're supposed to show your special somebody how much you love them. That seems to be the thinking behind this week's Nintendo Download too, with the Big N showering you with the gaming equivalent of chocolate, roses and a Hugh Grant movie.
WiiWare
Pucca's Kisses Game (BigBen Interactive, 500pts) – A sweet platformer where the titular girl has to achieve her goal of kissing a ninja; it's that simple. Our Pucca's Kisses Game review chases after the ninja of information and plants a sloppy kiss of objective opinion on its cheek.
WiiWare Demos
Chronos Twins DX (EnjoyUp Games) – American gamers get to try out EnjoyUp's split-screen platform puzzler before putting down 1000 Points, so try out the trial and give our Chronos Twins DX review a once-over to flesh out your thoughts too.
chick chick BOOM (tons of bits) – An action game where two teams of chicks beat each other up, this is a charming title that's well worth trying out. Our chick chick BOOM review will answer any leftover questions.
DSiWare
Treasure Hunter X (Agetec Inc., 500pts) – Explore creature-infested caverns as Tyrol the treasure hunter, searching for lost fortunes to win the heart of the woman of his dreams. A clever satire on the commercialism of Valentine's Day or a damning indictment of the material instincts that drives modern relationships, we'll chip away at a review and have the full verdict for you this week.
Oscar in Toyland 2 (Virtual Playground, 500pts) – You know you're in for a wild ride when the press release uses the word "zany", but this mediocre follow-up to the run-of-the-mill original is anything but zany. Our Oscar in Toyland 2 review explains more.
Panda Craze (TiK Games LLC, 500pts) – Control a panda called Tik-Ling who must collect magical lanterns to unlock portals to new worlds. A simulation of bamboo-eating it's not, but it could be a decent title, so stay tuned for our review later this week.
The Valentine's press release below comes from an anonymous admirer.

Where is the love for the Virtual Console seems to be the forgotten girlfriend you dumped to be with the one your with today.
No VC again...........
I'm starting to care less and less for this update....sighs
There was a VC game last week (S.C.A.T.) The routine is one game every two weeks, so there should be one next week, probably Natsume Championship Wrestling as it's out in Europe on Friday!
Its gotten to the point where I just don't care anymore. Hardly any of the VC games on the coming soon list sound good and the last VC game I bought was Mega Man 4. Yep. Nintendo shame on you for dumping the Virtual Console! The hell with Wii and DSiWare!
What Pucca only 500 points in America?
It's 1000 points here in Europe.
I really wish we could get Mega Man 5 or Faxanadu...
But oh well. I'm sure Panda Whatever-the-heck will be just as good.
I agree. I haven't purchased anything on the Wii Marketplace in a while. And that kissing game looks like a $1 Xbox Indie game.
Best Week ever!
I have been meaning to check out Chrono Twins DX, I shall try out the demo before purchasing.
Dang there's hardly anything good coming out for Wiiware or VC anymore. The Wii shop seems to be close to death. Can't really say I have high hopes for the 3DS VC service.
Yay, demos for games I actually want.
Pucca is 500 over here? I thought 1000 was a bit steep and was gonna pass on it for that reason. But now....I think I'm gonna go ahead and grab it if its only 5 bucks! Also, where is the Dive demo??
I was hoping for the Rage of the Gladiator demo
Nothing says true love like killing warriors
Whoever the reviewer was for Pucca, would it have scored a point higher if it had been 500 points in the review?
@CB Don't wait on the VC, just get this http://www.gamestop.com/gc/games/mega-man-anniversary-collection/31869
I already dislike Valentine's Day, and Nintendo isn't doing anything to make me change my mind.
Still waiting for dragon quest VI review. @stuffgamer1 I bet you hate it because your not married! LOL!
Glad to see a chick chick BOOM demo as I've been wanting to get it but been burned by too many games in the past (currently lamenting Hoard purchase for $7.49) and somewhat stupidly on my part I've been sitting on 1000 points b/c I don't know what to do with the other 200 if I get this so have been secretly hoping for a good 1000 point game. Maybe Chronos Twins DX?
@shinesprite:
Yep! I've got it actually! I just want to rebuy it so that I can play it with the Wii Remote and without having to dig out a disc.
I love that collection, though. It's how I finally managed to beat MM7!
So Ninty doesn't want me to use any of my Ninty points this week. That's cool. I'll enjoy some demos this week instead.
At least there's some free demos to passed the week.
Yay Pucca! 500 points for the win!
Nice demos released today also!
The routine is one game every two weeks,
Thats true. But you just now that in two weeks time, the same people will be complaining that they haven't got Faxanadu yet. I wouldn't expect that or Super Bonk to come any time soon now.
(Drops head on keyboard and keeps it there) There is no hope for World Heroes 2... again.
Just another crummy week...which is the large majority of them at this point.
Would it be better to get the DSiware version of Chronos Twins or the WiiWare. It sure is an interesting concept.
Im glad for the demos atleast...
I played Chronos Twins for DS until it crashed on me and wiped out my data (on the last stage of one seriously tough game). I'll probably download CTDX just to see how it is on WiiWare but I doubt I buy it, still seething about the past though I do LIKE the game.
As for Treasure Hunter X, I'll wait for the review.
No VC? Actually more like the equivalent of stale chocolate, plastic roses and a Jennifer Aniston movie. Oh yeah, almost forgot. NO VEE CEE FOR YOU! One more thing: VALENTINE'S DAY SUCKS! HERSHEY AND 1-800 FLOWERS AREN'T GETTING A PENNY OF MY MONEY ON THIS FABRICATED CORPORATE MONEY GRAB "HOLIDAY"!
Everything that has been released on Wiiware and DSiware for the past year have been either shovelware or games that would be released on the App Store for $.99. Seriously this is just embarrassing. Release stuff people will actually be willing to buy or dont release anything at all. I don't even know why I check these updates every Monday. I must like severe dissapointment.
I seriously hope we get FLUX next week. It's school vacation for me, and I THINK most of America, so if it comes out I'll actually have time to play it (doesn't happen all that often....).
Oh I thought we'd get DQ 6 on VC for sure
I haven't downloaded a game from the Wii Shop Channel since Chick Chick Boom came out and it doesn't look like that is going to change anytime soon.
Another week of crap not counting demos. I swear Nintendo isn't even trying with WW or VC anymore, just trying to plug the old WW games people missed the first time around... which I guess I give them a small bonus point for that.
I really hope when Nintendo doesn't handle the 3DS shop the way they have the Wii shop recently but considering it won't even be available at launch I don't have high hopes.
The panda game sounds interesting just 'cause you can play as a panda.
I'll wait for a review on that though. Other then that nothing interests me.
@Retro_on_theGo
I'd skip the panda game. It's like Lode Runner, which in itself is awesome, but the enemy "AI" is downright retarded.
NINTENDO HATES US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JKJK THERE GIVING US 3DS NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Combing this kind of support(read: not too high quality) for a d/l service(& I mean WW, too! Not just VC.), along w/ the 3DS' apparent resolution issue on GB/GBC titles is seriously making me consider not utilizing the 3DS d/l service, or perhaps not even purchasing a 3DS @ all. Sidenote: I have as of late been playing my GBC. Popped 2 aas(batteries) into it, Mario Golf, cleaned the screen, & I'm good.
It says that Treasure Hunter X is 500 points but its actually 200 points.
What a stupid update for a stupid holiday.
'bah humbug' to you too, PSICOffee :3
