3DS Launches in Europe on March 25th

ALL the details? Nope, no price announced. Which means: Eurozone must get ready for a price-shafting again.

The presentation was pretty weak. Almost all of them couldn't speak proper English and they told us only stuff we already knew, aside from the launch date. We still don't know the price and we still don't know the launch games.

Yeah, that presentation was pretty bad.

Hopefully Nintendo of AU will announce our price and release tomorrow.

What did that Nintendo bloke say about the price? Sounds like he was trying to avoid telling everyone it's going to set us back £500...'price decided by retailer' = poor show!

Happy with the March 25th launch date. Two months away isn't so bad, considering that Kirby's Epic Yarn and Black/White are out in the meantime. Curious to see what the launch games are though.

And did you see Rayman 3D? That was Rayman 2! Again! I know this is a great game and all and the DS version stunk but come on!

Nintendo wont tell a price because they said that they told the retailers the price and the retailers are free to make a price by them self.

Yeah, the event on stage was pretty poor but I didn't mind. The Japanese producers and developers were totally confident and knew their stuff. Very professional and in the zone. Their translator on the other hand was sweating buckets. The French dudes were nervous as well. Very interesting, but also a little embarrassing.

And the price being unannounced isn't a surprise. Each country in the EU will have a different price so announcing one at the event will just make people jealous of one another.

EWE!! What dreadful colors! Seriously we havent had an all-red portable nintendo system since the GB pocket and I want one! Its bad enough its not made for left-handers! Typical NOA stereotypes my demographic as all hardcore afraid of bright colors! black and blue. UGH EW EW. Where is yellow and lime green like the Gameboy Color or all the neat colors Europe got for the DSi!? huh?!

/Exaggeration aside, I'm serious about someday getting an all-red portable 3DS. The DSlite with a red shell was a disappointment. I guess this is all just more reasons to feel better to wait a few months after release when I have money. I expected the price and lack of launch titles.

btw, I've learned enough seeing the Wii's launch not to buy into the immediate hype of owning one of these. By waiting a year at least it will be cheaper and more colors available. For most of us, we only get one chance to get the system so we have to pick that color carefully. Its a shame all the cool colors happen far later (mario anniversary dsi). A red and black wii would be cool, but I'm fine with owning my first all-white vidyagame system.

Nintendo never sell their consoles at a loss (hello sony & Msoft), weak £ and VAT 20%. Get ready to find out you can't afford the 3DS.

@PSICOffee All 3DSes will have a black lid. Apparently it's less intrusive to the top screen's 3D effect. Perhaps there will be some limited edition ones with different lid colours, but don't expect a totally red 3DS any time soon.

@HolyMackerel yeah I kinda figured that was the case. Oh well. At least it's a good reason for being black, rather than saying the DSlite is red when in actuality its all black with a red plastic plate glued on top. Still having most of the system red as shown in the famous stock photos we've seen a million times for months is better and I find that acceptable... except red isn't a launch color now so WTF Nintendo is it gonna be like those 6 colors of the wii we never saw? Hopefully not.

I'm expecting 250€. That seems in line with how Nintendo prices things. More than that isn't happening considering it's 250$ in the US.

If it is £230 then N is changing its strategy. Maybe apple being mentioned as major competitors has something to do with it.

Yet again the European gamers get shafted. Again and again and again. $250 is no where near £229 ffs. Its well below £200, like it should. Even WITH 20% VAT and weak pound (lame excuse my British retailers). Go tug on the gonads of Japanese and American gamers then Nintendo and leave us to be treated sh#tly. AGAIN.

What are the LAUNCH games too?!. I don't want an announcement of "before june".

I definitely wont be buying EU then. Now I just need to weigh up the risks of importing a US system.

All those games are out before June? Awesome!!! I'ts good to see that atlus are bringing their SMT 3ds games to eu unlike their ds SMT games, especially since the 3ds is reigon locked. Also, my release date prediction was right.

I'm really happy for you folks in Europe getting the 3DS a few days before us Yanks. It works out really well considering that Nintendo Life is based in the UK so you guys can give us some early impressions of the 3DS and it's games.

I pre-ordered it from Game e few minutes ago. As I've previously said, I have the money needed. And if it costs 250 €, I can afford a game as well! None of the titles have REALLY caught my attention yet, other than the RE games and Mario Kart. BUT, I'm really excited about the downloadable stuff! I'm expecting som great indie titles and a lot of retro goodness! I really want to play the original Pokémon games, since my first with the series was Ruby.

Used £32 of my reward points (all of them) to bring the price down to £187 at this website that I shop with often. That's really about the price the 3DS should be shouldn't it (about £190 even with weak pound and VAT issues)? Ah well. Pre-ordered in the end.

Also, 6-8 games on that list I want. What's the average price for a game btw?

I'll be will to trade in my DSi to GS if they'll give me 100(maybe 75) bucks for it on a special trade-in offer. Other then that or them giving away a free game I don't see myself buy this anytime soon.

Are all those games really coming before the end of June? That's really hard to believe.

£230 is too, too much for most people to pay for a handheld...especially in a Depression/Recession!

Another one of my jokes "mysteriously disappeared." Seriously? Whatever. You guys should be happy about getting the system earlier.

I'm glad there is a confirmation as to the games that will be released within the first three months of the consoles released existence. Asphalt Urban GT and Ridge Racer DS were the launch titles for the original DS so its nostalgically ironic to see that here. All the Nintendo releases are instant buys as usual.

But jeez Ubisoft, 6 titles? What an overload of shovelware! in the old days the big N wouldn't allow a company to release more than 5 games a year for a reason (to avoid market oversaturation with crap). Hopefully Rayman 3D will be good.

I'd say nintendo aren't sure, they got the price of the wii spot on but believe me 250euro is not the right price and if it does hit the market at that price it will have a price cut after 6 months. 150 euro is the right price and they know it.
