Fans of the Wild West may look enviously upon the titles released on HD consoles in the past year, notably Red Dead Redemption and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, and wish for their own rootin' tootin' adventure to match. Well, they'll be waiting a long time yet, but here comes a more sedate cowboy adventure in the form of The Westerner, coming to WiiWare on Monday.
A point-and-click game with a twist, developer Revistronic claims The Westerner features some 40 hours of gameplay and a "very amazing script, full of twists, humour and action." It all sounds very promising, and with a release next Monday we'll soon be able to rustle up some WiiWare cowboy action.

To a two year old, maybe. This game might turn out to be brilliant, but I get a feeling that it won't be. If it is good, however, feel free to laugh at me and call me an idiot. Still, I would rather stick to the more adult western games on WiiWare.
I agree with LuWiiGi, this looks rubbish.
My, that's a terrible trailer. This is actually the sequel to a very old (and mostly ignored, but loved by some) PC adventure game called "3 Skulls of The Toltecs".
This sequel was released some time around 2003 or 2004, and had similar mixed reviews. But why this trailer makes it out to be more of a minigame collection rather than an adventure game I do not know...
Anyway, I'd say don't knock it off the radar entirely until some reviews for this version come in.

I love Point & Click games, but there's not a single Point & Click game that lasts 40 hours, so it's basically already a fact that that statement is just not true.
Yeah, Imma a huge point and click fan, and a western theme draws my attention, but the jury is still out on this one. I'll wait for a review for now.
meh i never really got into the whole point and click games inless its a horror web one
Looks interesting. But I won't spend a single cent on this game if they don't translate the PAL version to european languages. Monkey Island and Strong Bad were both disappointing in this respect and imho much too expensive. I hope Revistronic are able to make it better.
Looks like it could be decent. I'll definitely be waiting until I read a few reviews, though.
I was already waiting for this one. Big Point & Click adventure fan (even have my own dutch website (www.adventure-island.nl)), so this will be a day one purchase for me.
Someone actually agreed with me? I thought I was gonna get flamed.
I'm not the biggest point and click fan, it is likely i will pass.
Dear god those models are hideous.
That art style looks terrible. I think Read Dead Revolver will be good enough for my Western fix.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! This game looks like one of those cruddy Pixar rip-off movies from Brazil! I'm not sure this will be as good as other point-and-click WiiWare games like Strong Bad and Monkey Island, though.
Fenimore Fillmore looks like Woody's dim-witted cousin.
Can't judge for sure, but from the trailer I think I'd rather just play Zack & Wiki while wearing a cowboy hat.
Um.
Insta-PASS
@PunnyGuy: Ratatoing!
I don't want to say it's shovelware, but that's a review before I buy for sure.
It is interesting enough to warrant a demo.... what was that, no WiiWare demos anymore... yeah....
I find it hard to believe any Wii Ware game has 40 hours of gameplay.
Maybe they actually meant that this game had 40 hours of development time.
HMMMM.
@WolfRamHeart LOL! These days WiiWare is a dump for games the developers think are too weird to put anywhere else. Pelvic Floor Muscle Trainer, anyone? Girlfriends Forever: Magic Skate?
This is actually the sequel to a very old (and mostly ignored, but loved by some) PC adventure game called "3 Skulls of The Toltecs".
I think my PC version of The Westerner actually included the old game as well. There's a third game by now but it has a more gritty, realistic style and looks to me like it might not even be the same genre anymore (haven't checked reviews on it).
EDIT: And the way they've screwed up Metacritic with the last design change it's not even possible to find reviews on that anymore.
