Edge Online have today reported that EA have confirmed that Dead Space will be heading to Wii, the following was posted on their site:
EA CEO John Riccitiello said that his company will be bringing games based on mass market Hasbro and Sims properties to the Wii, but also core properties that "have legs," such as a certain horror title that released in 2008.
"A good example of this is Dead Space," he said. "We're bringing a Wii title to market this year, and it absolutely has the quality and fear factor that you got on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and PC last year."
He also said marketing efforts revolving exclusively around Wii games would increase.
Whilst there isn't an official press release announcing the game this conference call good info is good enough for us, Dead Space was a huge hit on Xbox last year - how well will it convert to Wii? We're not sure.
Set in the cold blackness of deep space, the atmosphere is soaked with a feeling of tension, dread and sheer terror. In Dead Space, players step into the role of engineer Isaac Clarke – an ordinary man on a seemingly routine mission to fix the communications systems aboard a deep space mining ship. It is not long before Isaac awakes to a living nightmare when he learns that the ship’s crew has been ravaged by a vicious alien infestation. He must fight through the dead silence and darkness of deep space to stay alive.
We're not sure of a release date or any other details just yet, but it seems Dead Space will be on Wii later this year.

Hmmm. I'm not sure about this. A large part of Dead Space's appeal on the 360/PS3 was the visuals - the lighting effects were amazing and the enemies were truly horrible in terms of design. I'm sure this will have motion-control forced upon it too, and when you're in the middle of a tense battle with alien monsters, you really need the accuracy of a traditional pad input, IMO.
But we'll see. It's nice to see the Wii getting what would be termed a 'serious gamer's game', anyway!
I heard this earlier and screame d'YES!!' out loud. Now we just need Fallout 3...
I don't know how good exactly this news is, but at least it will increase core gamer interest.
Yea, I agree with Wiiloveit but most people I know own a Wii and either a PS3 or XBOX360 so they already (might) have played it. :S
Holy awesome shnikes! As a survival-horror fan who only owns Wii, but no 360/PS3, this is fantastic news to me!
