Having checked out the new Nintendo Channel we can now confirm that the puzzler will actually be called Dr. Mario Online RX in North America! The European / Australian name looks set to be Dr. Mario & Germ Buster as it got rated by the OFLC some time ago.
The two-and-a-half minute clip also revealed pricing for the game: 1000 Wii Points ($10). It seems as if Dr. Mario Online RX will indeed debut with the launch of WiiWare next Monday, which is great news!

Wounder whats with the different Dr Mario titles for North American and European/Australian Wiiware?
I can care less what they call it. Its gonna be awesome!
Well, "Rx" is a term for prescription drugs which is used far more widely in the US than it is in Europe, so I'd guess that's the reasoning behind the name change. "Rx" means something to North American audiences, but it would go over most Europeans' heads.
Its simple. NOA prefer names they can market easily. NOE prefer literal translations (nameley because puns etc only work in one language).
This is why NOA has Brain Age and NOE has "Dr.Kawashimas Brain Training: How old is your brain?" (though everyone calls it Brain Training*).
*-Simple, make a name long and people will make it short for you.
Same rings true here.
Edit: what Kelvin said. RX can be marketed to Americans (though I'm sure even some of them will scratch thier heads)
The trailer said it was released 5/12. That means it's coming out when WiiWare launches
I've only seen the game in the opening video. Does it have it's own "page" too?
I am waiting for Dr. Mario RX part D coverage.
It is a launch title. I dont plan to get it because I already have an older version of it, but those who love it can now WIFI Dr Mario battle!
I didnt question it when I read it, but then.......RX???? !!!!! ?
Oh ok...
@Kelvin
Thanks for updating my knowledge about the North American culture, LOL. RX didn't mean anything to me. Maybe it is just an American thing and I was scratching my head because I'm Canadian.
Germ Buster is a better name anyway you look at it. Stupid NOA can't speak to me in a language I understand. They may as well shorten the whole damn thing to DMORX.
Hasnt the RX always been in the Dr. Mario logo? This is just the first its been actually used for the name I think.
@ Tony: Careful, man, you're showing your age. Wonder if there will be gap coverage to cover the donuthole...
Seriously though, I wonder if this game will do better with the nursing home crowd? They know all about the meds..
I'd rather have Tetris.
But will Tetris cure a cold? WILL IT?
@ Tony and Herandar - Oh my...if it wasn't a North American thing initially, it is now At any rate, I'll just have mine phoned in to Walmart and pick it up for a dollar
Tetris and Dr.Mario are completely different games. I plan to get both.
I don't. Just Tetris. Never liked Dr. M. Bores the hell out of me.
@ Herander
Don't worry you can use Wii points if you doughnut hole for Mario's Part D coverage.
I just hope Mario uses generic medications. For those in the UK, I am poking fun at the our Medicare prescription coverage which is entitled Part D. It has a massive gap in coverage called the doughnut hole.
Anyway Dr. Mario looks great and I love the online features. This one will be a hit for sure.
I hope Star Soldier is really good too. Only time will tell
Yes!! I just gotta download this one and defend your castle! Oh and Tetris when it comes out!
dr. mario all the way baby! this is probably going to be the last puzzler i download. too bad they didnt add any online play to pokemon puzzle league... that would've been dope!
Ah ok thanks for the info on the title name. Still sounds like a cool game. Shame i have loads of VC titles to download though.
Dr. Mario Rx sponsored by Celebrex
@Kelvin- Do MegaVitamins contain the cure for the common cold? I forgot... I think I read that somewhere.
I may have to hold out on Lost Winds and get this. Sigh...
Clayfrd: That's a tough choice. Dr. Mario has more Replay Value and depth but LostWinds is an awesome platformer that's becoming known for its brevity.. Hmm....
I think Online Rx was a nice title choice, personally. Virus Buster seems a bit cheesy to me for some reason...
