Of the four big objectives, the Zora Domain quest is probably the longest in Tears of the Kingdom. Getting to the Zora's home is easy enough, but there are multiple stages to it before you can even think about teaming up with an old friend.

We recommend tackling the Zora's Domain quest third out of the four Regional Phenomena quests in Tears of the Kingdom. However, you can do these quests in any order. We tackled this second, for example. We've got reasons as to why we say do this quest third in our Regional Phenomena guide.

Brief warning before you dive in here — if you're doing this quest first, beware there may be very light character spoilers below in some of our screenshots.

With that, here's your guide to getting to the Zora's Domain, how to find Toto Lake, and where to find the King.

How to prepare for the Lanayru Region

The Zora's Domain is located in the Lanayru region, the easternmost region in Hyrule, and is surrounded by water, waterfalls, and mountains. It's a beautiful, tranquil paradise. Except it was until it was covered in brown sludge.

You'll get tools to help with swimming during this quest. However, you should grab lots of Splash Fruit on your way through Lanayru, and save up any blue Chuchu Jelly you have. Why? Water helps clear away the sludge. This is vital for many of the later puzzles during this quest. If you have any Hydrant Zonai devices, those are also excellent. Stamina-boosting food is also never a bad idea.

How to get to the Lanayru Region

The Zora's Domain is to the far east of Lookout Landing. You'll be travelling through the Lanayru Wetlands, through the Zodobon Highlands, and past Ruto Mountain. Get yourself to Wetland Stable, southeast of your hub town, for some orientation.

You won't pass by a Skyview Tower directly, but it might be worth going a little out of your way and unlocking Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower, which is south of the stable. This will give you a good view of Zora's Domain in the distance, and you can stop by Kakariko too if you want. You could also go from Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower and glide southeast from there — that way you can also get close to Upland Zorana Skyview Tower.

How to find Zora's Domain

This one is pretty easy. From the stable, follow the path east past Lanayru Wetlands Well and Goponga Village Ruins Well through the marshlands. Follow the bridges and you'll be on the right track.

This basically goes for the whole journey. Just keep heading east and follow the bridges. As sludge starts to appear, you know you're going the right way. If it becomes a nuisance, you can test out any splash fruit you have.

You know you're close to Zora's Domain when the bridges go from classic wood or stone to blue and white marbled structures — albeit dirtier than normal. The Great Zora Bridge is your gateway to the Domain.

What to do at Zora's Domain

This once elegant city has been turned dirty and dangerous to these water-loving people by the sludge, which is coming from the sky. Prince Sidon is also nowhere to be seen.

When you enter, head straight up to the central plaza to spot a statue covered in sludge. Speak to the green woman in front of the statue to overhear that the statue needs cleaning, but the people have run out of splash fruit. This gives you 'The Sludge-Covered Statue' Main Quest.

The Sludge-Covered Statue Main Quest

Good thing we brought some splash fruit — or whatever your watery item of choice is. Hold down 'R', and then press up on the d-pad to bring up your materials. Scroll through until you find some splash fruit (or blue Chuchu Jelly), let go of the Up button, and aim. Throw it by letting go or R, and keep going until all the sludge is cleaned off.

The woman reveals herself to be Yona, Prince Sidon's fianceé, and she thanks you for cleaning the statue — which depicts you and Sidon's heroism in Breath of the Wild. Yona tells you to meet her at the infirmary later — which you should absolutely do — but she also tells you that Sidon is at Mipha Court.

Going to the infirmary now will get you another new quest — Restoring the Zora Armor — which you can complete after you go to Mipha Court.

Sidon of the Zora Main Quest

Mipha Court is directly east of Zora's Domain, but it's up a rather steep mountain. You can leave the Domain via the eastern bridge and make your way up Ploymus Mountain to reach Sidon. Make sure you activate Ihen-a Shrine here, too.

Where to find Toto Lake and Jiahto

Sidon will explain that he's the only one capable of separating the sludge from the water, which is why he's at Mipha's Court. He tells you that Jiahto is investigating the floating sky islands that have appeared across Hyrule, particularly above Zora's Domain and Lanayru, and he's at Toto Lake.

Toto Lake is directly northwest of Mipha Court. if you've unlocked Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, the lake will appear in brown and not blue. It's just north of Zora's Domain on the map.

Once you get there, speak to Jiahto the historian, who is looking at a slate inside a cave. there's a huge chunk missing, however, and you'll get The Broken Slate Main Quest.

You don't need to go far to fix the script. Head to the cave, and on the right-hand side of the cave's mouth is a huge piece of stone covered in sludge.

Throw a splash fruit at it to clean the sludge off, then use Ultrahand to pick it up, rotate it, and pop it in the gap on the wall. You'll now get a new quest — Clues to the Sky — along with the following riddle, which you'll need to solve:

“Stand upon the land of the sky fish, and behold its lofty view. Among the floating rocks you see, a droplet waits for you. Through this droplet, shoot an arrow with the mark of the king. Do this task, and you shall reveal a most wondrous thing. See the watery bridge’s resting spot with your own two eyes…that which connects the Zora to the people of the skies.”

Restoring the Zora Armor - How to get the Zora Armor

Go back to Sidon at Mipha's Court and talk to him about the riddle on the slate. Sidon will surmise that his father, the king, has returned home, so you'll need to head to Zora's Domain.

Don't do that just yet, though. Before you leave, you need to get what Yona requested for the Zora Armour, an ancient arowana. There's a chance you already caught one of these in the sky islands, but if not, you can get one right here in the clear waters of Mipha Court. Check all of the pristine water until you have one, then you can head back to Zora's Domain.

Head to the infirmary, which is underneath the throne room on the top floor, and talk to Yona to give her the fish and get the Zora Armour, which allows you to swim up waterfalls. Equip it now, as you'll need to use that ability very soon.

Where to find King Dorephan

Since you're back at Zora's Domain, you need to find the king. Head up to the throne room to find three Zora children playing there, but as you approach them, they'll hush and tell you to leave. Walk around the side of the room and talk to Ledo, who tells you that they supposedly pretending to be the king and are recreating recent events. That means you need to snoop on them.

Walk towards the throne, climb in, and crouch down until you get the 'Listen' prompt. You'll hear the kids talk about "pristine sanctummy", a place between Ploymus Mountain and the domain.

That's your cue to head to the waters surrounding Zora's Domain and swim northeast towards Mikau Lake. There, use your Zora Armour to swim up the waterfall. Then, on the second tier, you'll notice the waterfall has distinct markings behind it. Swim behind the waterfall and follow the path to get to the Pristine Sanctuary.

Walk to the back of the Sanctum and swim up the waterfall to find a rather sickly-looking King Dorephan. Talk to him about the riddle, and he'll give you 5 King's Scale. These are the "mark of a king" from the riddle, and you'll need them later on.

Oh, we're not quite done with Sidon of the Zora just yet. We said this was longer, and next up is the Clue to the Sky quest, the Zora Waterworks, and Wellspring Island before you think about getting to the main course. If you want to take a diversion, however, you can get more hints, tips, and maps over in our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough.
