Super Mario RPG: Tadpole Pond Walkthrough

Welcome to our complete story walkthrough of Super Mario RPG on Nintendo Switch and SNES.

Now that you’ve made it through the Kero Sewers and past Midas River, you've arrived at Tadpole Pond. Here, you'll get to speak to Mallow’s grandpa about the events that occurred at Bowser’s Keep and beyond. Super Mario RPG is about to get serious.

Tadpole Pond Walkthrough

Approach the nearby stone and a tadpole will hop out of the water to speak to you. Frog Sage / Frogfucius, Mallow’s grandfather, will appear and create a path for you.

Jump across the tadpoles and speak to Frog Sage again. This time, he’ll tell you a long story about what really happened at Bowser’s Keep and where the princess is now located. Make sure you don’t accidentally ask for a recap!

You’ll receive some backstory about Mallow, who will officially join you on your adventures… again. After the scene is done, talk to Frog Sage again to give him the Cricket Pie. In exchange, you’ll get the Froggie Stick, which is a new weapon for Mallow.

Jump back across the tadpole bridge and explore Tadpole Pond. On the left, you'll find two shops — the Frog Coin emporium where you need Frog Coins to buy items, and the Juice Bar, where you need to be a member to buy drinks and healing items. On the right, you'll find Melody Bay, home to Toadofsky.

When you’re ready to continue, head back out to the world map and select Rose Way.
