Super Mario RPG: Rose Way Walkthrough

Welcome to our complete story walkthrough of Super Mario RPG on Nintendo Switch and SNES.

The visit with Mallow’s grandpa at Tadpole Pond has confirmed the presence of a new enemy that threatens both Mario and Bowser (plus the entire kingdom) in Super Mario RPG. You’re now on your way to Rose Town, an area in need of Mario’s help, but first you need to make your way through Rose Way. Let’s-a-go!

Rose Way Enemies

Starslap

These enemies occasionally heal themselves, but don’t pose much of a threat otherwise. Attack them as you would normally.

Arachne

Big spiders that can poison your party. They should go down to an attack or two, so focus on defeating these guys first if possible.

Snapdragon

The first kind of enemy that can put a party member to sleep! They don’t deal much damage otherwise, though.

Shy Guy

A Mario series staple. Basic enemies that you’ll find riding on platforms. All it takes is a good hit or two and they’ll go down without an issue.

Crook

They mainly use weak attacks, but they also have a chance of randomly fleeing the battle. They’re very easy to take down and sometimes drop a Honey Syrup.

Rose Way Walkthrough

Jump up onto the yellow platform and jump and ride it to the next one. Pick up the Mushroom on the way and then hop over to the next platform. This platform brings you to another one, but if you wait a moment it’ll move to a Flower that you can collect. From there, head northwest to access a small hidden area.

In this area, you’ll see two Shy Guys riding yellow platforms. Defeat them both and then hitch a ride on the first platform. Jump across to the second platform and then open the treasure box to obtain a Frog Coin.

Go back to where you came from and head through the north exit. Head through this winding path, defeating any enemies you want, and then continue to the next area.

In this area, there’s a treasure box containing a bunch of coins… but there’s a Shy Guy on top. Hit the block and then defeat the Shy Guy when it drops down to attack you. There are actually quite a few of these, so defeat them or ignore them and continue southeast to the next area. Here, you’ll see an old friend commanding some minions before he leaves the area, so follow him to make your way to Rose Town.
