Quarantine Circular (Switch eShop)
We were massive fans of the first game, although somehow the sequel managed to escape review. Here are JJtheTexan's thoughts on the rather timely Quarantine Circular:
It's very similar structurally to Subsurface Circular, which your reviewer loved, but it is an entirely different story and can easily be played from start to finish in one sitting. There's also some good replay value to be had. It's a perfect game for a lazy weekend afternoon, and its plot is shockingly relevant to what's happening in the world right now, even though the PC version released two years ago.
The Last Door - Complete Edition (Switch eShop)
User NotTelevision had this to say about The Last Door - Complete Edition:
I’d recommend checking out The Last Door on Switch because it is an experience that really sticks with you. It was created by The Game Kitchen (the developers behind Blasphemous) and it has a really intriguing Lovecraft-inspired story and atmosphere. It was well reviewed when released for PC, but the Switch version has flown under the radar.
#RaceDieRun (Switch eShop)
NL reader steve_mcsteve thinks there's a game you may have already downloaded for free that deserves to be revisited:
I really don't think #RaceDieRun has been given the attention it deserves. Even though loads of people have gotten it for free from that Christmas promotion, I don't think people have actually played it.
The best way I can describe it is a combination of an F-Zero time trial and Super Meat Boy. It has 60 tracks, and the goal is to reach the finish line while navigating an increasingly ridiculous set of obstacles that will kill you in one hit. It gets difficult to the point of hilarity, and it has a pretty cool aesthetic.
Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise (Switch eShop)
Reader Jeff had this to say about aventure game Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise, a game that SMG Studio CEO Ashley RIngrose recently told us he had been playing:
It's a point and click adventure with a '60s vibe. The puzzles are perfect difficulty (I think I used a walkthrough once), the art style is perfect and the story just the right amount of engrossing.
The Demon Crystal (Switch eShop)
NL reader George recommends a Switch port that you might have missed:
I recommend The Demon Crystal, a port of a Japanese PC game from 1985. It's an early action-RPG where you play as Ares & rescue Princess Chris from the demon Sharud. It’s a side-view Tower of Druaga, complete with required items to get that are hidden away behind obtuse actions, but the Switch version gives hints before each stage, which really helps. It’s just a really fun & addictive little game that still holds up really well. The sequel, The Demon Crystal II: Knither, is also on Switch, but only in Japan.
Also, don't confuse it with Demon’s Crystals.
Wilmot's Warehouse (Switch eShop)
And finally, Reader K_vH has this to say about warehouse mangement puzzler Wilmot's Warehouse:
The perfect game for people who like to order things. I bought this game because of the cute trailer and had no idea how much I would love this game. You are the sole (or in amazing co-op two) block man in charge of a huge warehouse and get wares to store in them. Sounds lame, but it's lots of fun, especially in co-op. This was the first game in ages my girlfriend enjoyed and we had hours over hours of fun with it, finishing it twice. Also, it's dirt cheap.
Our thanks to everyone who responded. We're off the the Switch eShop to take a look at a few of these.
If you've got a recommendation for us, you can send them to us by following the guidelines and instructions below:
Submission guidelines
- 100-word limit - Keep it brief! A history of the genre and deep-dive into every mechanic is unnecessary. Concentrate on what the game is about, what sets it apart from other games and why you enjoyed it.
- One entry per game - Feel free to send your thoughts on multiple games, but there's no need to duplicate.
- Choose only games that we haven't reviewed on the site - To check if a Nintendo Life review exists, simply type the name of the game into the search box at the very top of the page (look for the magnifying glass icon in the top left corner) and click on the game page that appears. If there's no review, you're good to go!
How to send a recommendation
- Head to Nintendo Life's Contact page and select the subject "Switch eShop Hidden Gems" from the drop down menu (it's already done for you in the link above). Type your name, email and beautifully-crafted message into the appropriate box, hit send and Bob's your uncle!

Wilmots warehouse is amazing but it needs updating. The game drops to about 10-15 frames in the later levels. A highly recommend the demon crystal too.
I had no clue there was a Spice and Wolf VR game for the switch. I will definitely pick this up
I got conduct together for a cent as well, and it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I have the older screencheat on my pc, and that is one of my favorite multiplayer games, and as the article says, the concept is really unique and well executed
I did play that RaceDieRun game when I got it for free. It's a minor side-distraction at best honestly.
Yeah, I think I might actually pick up Pianista. I'm surprised that no one has really thought to release centered around classical piano compositions. And the production values actually look quite good.
'The last door' is quite excellent. The game really nails that air of gloom and ominous menace that you find in the classic horror tales of writers like Poe, Bierce and Lovecraft. The graphics are very simplistic, but they use that very simplicity (and some really creepy sounds) to spark the player's imagination.
One of the best horror games I've played.
Agree Agent A is pretty decent. Solid puzzles and a fun story with some decent humour!
Love this! There are so many hidden gems on Switch, so hope you'll be doing more of these in future 👏
Agent A is brilliant and frequently heavily discounted
I got 45 hours in Pianista now it is really good if music games are your thing, its the closest thing to DJMax on the switch. Hopefully someday we will get that DJMax port, they have mentioned it is potentially coming some day
Musynx is another similar game with a more modern music selection
Agent A is one of my favorite point and click games. It has a good story, some difficult puzzles, and some great humor.
Thanks for the article. I'll look into:
Finding Teddy
Demon Crystal
The Last Door
Agent A
Finding Teddy is awesome.
Some of the other games I haven't heard of before.. but will check them out.
Can we get more of these articles please 👍
These look great. Please make this a regular feature!
That made my day, thank you, Nontendo Life!! 😅
Quarantine Circular looks very interesting I might just get it
@Kochambra yeah except for that lightbulb puzzle, I would have never figured that one out on my own.
I have Wilmot. It's good but it can really get old and with a small time limit.
This is great! So many cool indie games coming out right now it's easy for stuff to slip through the cracks. Odallus is amazing, definitely don't sleep on that one y'all. I'd never heard of most of these and I like the look of The Demon Crystal a lot.
wow gotta check pianista. rock band is one of my favorite games and still our go to party game. this could be another option for those late night note hitting sessiones.
I'm glad to see Screen Cheat; I bought it on sale recently, but haven't had the time to try it
This article just casually made me buy 5 games in 5 minutes.
I am actually playing Agent A as we speak (it's currently 90% off in the e-shop!) and I agree.... it's an absolute gem. I cannot recommend it enough for the $2 it's going for at the moment.
Wilmot is a pretty great game but is far too expensive for what it is
Finding Teddy II is available physically from PixelHeart on Switch and Wii U if anyone's interested: https://www.pixelheart.eu/shop/
I can't wait to try it when I finally get home to the UK!
So I downloaded Conduct Together and I'm pretty sure it hacked my brain. Must. Conduct. Trains.
Elliot Quest is a great game!!
And costs only 00,9 cents!
Nice to see Finding Teddy II up there, it's still a fantastic Metroidvania style adventure.
Thank you for this article, I definitely missed Finding Teddy and will give it a try.
Xenon Racer is so overlooked. In its version 1.0.6 I think everyone, who likes games like Ridge Racer, should give it a chance.
pianista is ok but now that we have the holy trinity of hatsune miku, taiko, and groove coaster, it is hard to find time for what i would consider lower tier rhythm games
Wow, I'm surprised that Quarantine Circular never got a rating on Nintendolife... especially since Subsurface Circular got a 10. Personally, I have a hard time deciding which one is better, but after playing Quarantine eight (8) times so that I could see absolutely everything it had to offer... the current global pandemic only makes me want to go back and play it again. Seriously, this game is amazing.
In other news, Conduct Together looks reeeeeally good... time to go add it to my wish list.
Thank you so much. Im going to download Finding Teddy 2 as it seems to be up my alley of platforming, retro, good music and magical. I'll also get pianista because I've always enjoyed classical music but never had a good way to explore it. This should be a fun way to find new classical music in a fun way.
Great article. Nice to have videos in there too - something I'd love to see in the standard reviews
I'm going to go in on subsurface circular and quarantine circular. Looks different and clever, and both for £9 is a good deal.
Having played most of these games, Wilmot’s Warehouse is probably the best recommendation here!
I also recall enjoying Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise on iOS a few years back, but despite it recently being on sale for ridiculously silly money, it doesn’t quite merit the double dip. Though for Point & Click fans who’ve yet to experience its ultra stylish 'spy movie' charms, I’d certainly recommend checking it out. It’s probably knocking on the door of an 8/10 for me.
Great article, bought conduct together!and Agent A because of it 👍
I already have Pianista, Agent A, Quarantine Circular and Wilmot's. All good games. I didn't know much at all about the others up there. May check out Spice and Wolf VR
Good article and thanks to all involved
