Review Family Pirate Party (WiiWare)
Does this new party title set sail for glory or is it forced to walk the plank?
Although some would argue that it flies in the face of common sense, Aksys Games has decided to continue their "Family" franchise with the release of Family Pirate Party. Previous games in the series received unanimous criticism. Unfortunately, Family Pirate...
About The Game
Daddy, Mommy, Sarah and Billy make their return as pirates sailing the seas and skies.
Roll the dice and sail through the islands to gather the treasures each island holds. The person with the most gold at the end wins. Family Pirate Party shines with its appealing cel-shaded graphics and endearing music. Challenge up to three other players (friends, the CPU or both) for some four-player board-game fun. Do you have it in you to defeat your opponents and become the king of Family Pirate Party!?

Not expecting much.
I hope it's better than mario party 4, cause I hated that game.
More Shovelware - go figure!!!
Mario Party 4 will NEVER be released on the VC since it's a GAMECUBE game! XD LOL!
@StarDust: Way to write it off...
This is probably the only Family title so far that has got me so interested. My expectations aren't too high but I doubt I'll find enough complaints to say that the 500 Points price tag isn't warranted. I'm sure it'll be better than the shallow experience of FTT.
Great, a Mario Party Clone. JUST what we need....
yh, i played this at my cuzins house, and its alright, but only fun in minigame mode! fighting octopus, shooting cannonballs...

My thoughts exactly.
Those N64 water visuals look fantastic.
I guess the reason why ESRB made it E10+ is because there's at least a mini-game where a character uses a handgun to shoot cannon balls.
As mentioned before, jhuhn, it has to do with Mommy's costume more than anything else.

My post: "Oh and it's E10+ for MCV and Suggestive Themes. The latter of which stems from Mommy's costume for sure, but from what I read, there's more to it. This is taken from ESRB's summary: 'During the course of the game, a female character's breasts jiggle whenever she jumps in the air. One still image depicts a young woman, with exaggerated breast size, wearing an outfit that exposes deep cleavage.' That's what ESRB says."
edit:
The still image refers to one of the Help Cards.
Okay so now I have the second DLC pack that got released today and so I can make an even more accurate judgment on the game.
If anyone's wondering about the second pack, the costumes are as I expected and they work semi-well. There are two tiny flaws. Characters poses haven't been amended. When Daddy wins an event, for example, he makes the pose where he holds his gun and tips his hat but with the swimsuit costume, he just has his hand sticking out and it's kinda odd... My biggest complaint, though, is the fact that you can't toggle them on or off. You CAN delete the content and that was good of them to included that but that would mean that you'd be deleting the 3 maps in the 2nd pack as well. But I wanna play on the final 3 add-on maps without the costumes and it won't let me do that...
As for the new maps themselves all of them further delve into the strategy element found within the game and further enhance on it. Jungle stage is great, Ice stage is pretty good too and there's a bigger level of strategy here once again (seems like that's a common thing with the Ice levels) and the Sky stage is also good. I appreciated that these maps are not only bigger but they do require for more strategy and that's great to see. Even if they didn't include new environments, I'm not complaining since the maps lived up.
