Review Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U)
Sonic Doomed
Sega's once-venerable Sonic the Hedgehog series has become a bit of a punchline in the gaming industry in recent years. With entries ranging from decent to mediocre to horrible, each new release is met with trepidation and well-earned cynicism. Sonic just hasn't been fully on top since his 16-bit heyday, and while his original 3D...

In a recent Sonic...

Video Learn a Little More About Sonic Boom and The Rise (and Fall) of Lyric
"Oh shiiii...ooot"
Time can be a great healer. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric wasn't a golden moment for the mascot, but the Boom universe continues to roll on with the animated series and the upcoming Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice on 3DS. Considering all that went wrong with the Wii U exclusive, it's a series that's done well to survive. The troubles of...
Random Someone Hacked The Original Sonic To Include Sonic Boom's Annoying Chatter
"It's like they're drawn to me!"
Like the vast majority of gaming icons who appeared during the 16-bit era, Sonic the Hedgehog was a silent protagonist. However, his journey into 3D saw him gifted - if that's the right word - with a voice, and in his most recent outings, he rarely shuts up. As if to prove that less is most definately more, hacker...

News Sega Is Focusing On 3DS For Sonic Boom Because It Wasn't Happy With The Wii U Version
"We totally feel the 3DS was the stronger of the two"
Sonic Boom was supposed to be a big initiative for Sega. Not only was the company pushing two brand-new games to market - one for Wii U and one for 3DS - but it was going to support these titles with a tie-in TV show and a flood of merchandise. Things didn't quite work out that way; while the 3DS...
Video Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric Blame Could Largely Be With SEGA, Not Big Red Button
Seg-ah
Sonic Boom didn't do well on any metric; its sales failed to match those of fellow Nintendo exclusive Sonic Lost World, and it was panned by many critics and Sonic fans alike. Like any project it has its defenders, but many are agreed that it was a major disappointment, with Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on Wii U being the biggest culprit. It...
News SEGA Records Financial Losses and Aims to Stick With "Mainstay IP" Game Releases
Sonic Boom sales pass half a million
2015 hasn't been a great year for fans of 'classic' SEGA, the company that was once a top player in the video game industry. It still boasts some useful PC franchises and RPG IPs through acquisitions of companies such as Sports Interactive, Creative Assembly and Atlus, but has been struggling with its own games...

About The Game
Four Friends Must Face an Ancient Evil
In Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Sonic and his friends Tails, Knuckles and Amy encounter an ancient tomb sealed deep within an island, where they come across a powerful snake-like villain named Lyric. The group must put aside their differences and work together as a team to save the world from Lyric’s evil plan and his army of war mongering robots!
They will race across ancient ruins, the depths of the ocean and even back in time… This may be their biggest adventure yet. Do you have what it takes to help Sonic and friends defeat the evil mastermind?

The designs are weird, but I'm looking forward to this, as it appears to be multiplayer. Man, when are Sonic and Mario gonna cross over in a platformer though?
@evanescent_hero i keep thinking that too (about mario and sonic) yeah im looking forward to this game looks intresting
Chao world and i'm in.
I'm not sure I like the longer legs aesthetic. Wierd this is skipping Japan. Did Sega lose faith in Western developers?
@StarDust4Ever
Or maybe they lost faith in Japanese fans: looks like most of their money comes from Europe and the US these days
BOOM, BOOOMM, BBOOOOOOOMMMM!!!
I can see Naughty Dog's former members fingerprints all over this and that is a good thing! Listening to the voices and seeing the limited gameplay and levels reminds me of "Jak and Daxter". "Uncharted" is good in an Indiana Jones/National Treasure way but "Jak and Daxter" really nailed the adventure genre. It was funny and a little zany and that made it special.
@Chabbox They confirmed there wasn't one.
Wow a whole new take on son- OMG WHY THE HECK DOES KNUCKLES LOOK LIKE A BATTLETOAD! it's like someone stuck a bike pump up his but and pumped REAL hard. Anyways from that it looks good. The designs (excluding knuckles) are pretty good. Hoping for recurring characters like shadow blaze silver rouge etc. make an appearance. Can't wait for the tv show as well.
I'm not sold. I don't like the preview music either. lol
I honestly can't wait for this game. I'm a bit worried about Big red button slown the characters down though. Sure, i'll give it a chance, but I don't think that i'll want to see another Sonic game like this.
I really think the amount of negative press this game has received is entirely unjustified. The game looks a lot of fun and blends platforming with some light action/beat-em-up gameplay. Sure, the characters look a bit different, but I don't think they look bad.
Day 1 purchase with Super Smash Bros U for me!
I love how this suddenly became a hot game again
From watching LP's of this it looks fun.
Definitely getting this game in a day or two. I'm having a lot of fun with Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal
I was looking forward this one but the negative reviews elsewhere have dissuaded me. A shame that the Nintendo Life review isn't available yet.
Sonic is a total embarrassment.... The fact that this will sit on the same shelf ... At the same price as Smash Bros is shocking. Sega really are one of the worst devs ! Occasionally a game like Alien Isolation surprises u but generally ... Theyre shocking.
this game sucks, the frame rate is a tire fire and the graphics want to make me barf and not to mention the stupid multiplayer with even lower frame rate I do not recommend this to anyone
