Nintendo has always treated me fairly. From buying me a new DSi when the mic stopped working, to always being a dependable, reliable, and overall better company than I'd expect.
Well, it just keeps coming.
Today, Nintendo e-mailed me, thanking me for downloading Super Metroid off of Club Nintendo.
Since the game is 30 cents soon, they felt it was a bit sad that I paid the full Club Nintendo price a few weeks ago.
Here's the e-mail:
Dear Club Nintendo Member,
Thank you for your recent order of Super Metroid from Club Nintendo. We're sending this notification to let you know this title is going to be available from the Nintendo eShop for Wii U for 30 cents, as part of a special promotion starting on May 15.
Because you are a Wii U owner, we have refunded the 150 Coins you redeemed for Super Metroid. You may still use the code you received to download the game for free to play on Wii or Wii U. We hope you enjoy your game, and visit Club Nintendo again soon.

How is that odd? I was just stating that its nice if you own a Wii U however if you own a Wii and got this with the CN coins I dont seem them giving a refund for it.
I wonder if they plan to do this with every VC game that you bought with coins when they finally transfer them over to the Wii U VC. I have Mario Kart 64 that I got with coins a few months ago and its on my Wii U (well its on the Wii portion of my Wii U)

Yea reading the OP the first time I was thinking it could even apply to both consoles.
But from a business standpoint, refunding Wii owners would be both extravagant and random.
That's nice of them: they probably didn't want to risk angering any Wii U owners who redeemed for it not realizing. I imagine most of the people that redeemed for it weren't Wii U owners though, so they probably didn't have to refund the coins to many people.
HA! I was wondering why I bought it, since I was buying it for 30 cents anyway. Now I remember. It was a gift- since your coin purchases give you codes, not instant downloads, it was a present to a friend who already owns a wii.
I had about 3,000 points at the beginning of the year, so I've bought quite a lot of games with my coins.
Don't ask my bank account how I have 3,000 points. Just don't.
