I do think the controls and physics could've used an upgrade. They feel a bit clunky after playing Fusion. I agree that the GBA games have no soul though.

Play the Minish Cap. Only then can you speak.

I have this on my Wii VC, but I haven't played it much because of all my new games. I'll download it onto my Wii U and play it then.

This game is a Masterpiece. I recently beat it for the first time and 100'ed it (used a map at the end to acquire all the upgrades I was missing). The completion time was 06:29 and I didn't forget to free the animal friends : ) Btw, exploration has never been so good. I wasn't expecting that it would contain so many missle/super-missile extension powerups hidden throughout the game world. Each area is unique and has it's own distinctive feel. That's what I love about this Metroid game. It has a living, breathing world full of alien creatures and environments that makes me praise the developers for what they have achieved. It is the 3rd Metroid I completed (after playing the I and II: Return of Samus on the 3DS) and it's easy to see the radical difference in all possible game aspects. I'm considering Metroid Fusion at the moment (and mb Zero Mission after that), but it looks too objective-based and thus lacking the exploration the franchise is known for.

Glad you enjoyed the heck out of Super! Never has a game been so properly titled. Metroid Fusion is more objective based but if you like Super you will like Fusion. There are still plenty of items to search out.

You bet I did. It has become one of my all-time favorites. Nothing can suprass this kind of quality. Btw, I still haven't played Metroid Prime.

metriod prime is really good but its a little too easy to miss save points in my opinion. gave up on it after i lost about 2 hours worth of gameplay and just couldnt face it again. was enjoying it untill then though.

put it on.

Ya know1 thing that kindabugs me from Super Metroid? Like OK, if ya ever just let the game go and watch the 3 different gameplay demos it shows you, how there appears to be some additional/advanced attacks they never outlined how to perform (like 1 I think is some sort of charge in the air, and the other I'm not sure was like reviving energy with the suit or whatever it was), and I've even tried to Google search em, never found em once. But yeah overalll I feel both games were pretty good, but without any hintsor direction I was often puzzled what to do where in Super.

Ya, there were tons of secrets in Super Metroid that weren't obvious.

Well that was kinda part of the appeal. Not to be one of those "oh you dumb new gamers who get lost!" people or whatever (as I love linear games more than most older gamers it seems), but part of the appeal is that the game is mostly just like how basic it is. You're on an alien planet and you explore it, that's it. There's something very fun and wonderful at how simple it is, and without getting that much into unfair territory like nearly every other old school exploration-based game.

Though I kinda prefer Prime (kinda prefer Prime, no I greatly prefer it), which effortlessly does the exact same thing but gives you the option to not get lost and learn more story stuff beyond inferring things.

I just started playing the original nes Metroid because I never finished it. And DANG it is hard I just got the bombs, and now I'm trying to get the ice shot, and super jump before I fight Ridley. I keep dying, but I don't wanna give up because the game is so dang fun too

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

Just got it through Club Nintendo (I don't have a Wii U, so I'm playing it on Wii. Hope you don't mind if I discuss it here).

It's my first time playing it, & I'm having a great time so far. I'm not too far in, though (just got the morph ball, bomb, 4 missle, and one energy tank upgrades, so far).

I'm already liking it more than Metroid & Metroid II, and have a feeling it may have what it takes to stand with, or beat, Metroid Fusion as my favorite in the series.

Got a little stumped (Kinda embarrassing, since I'm still early on).

I just beat that spiky plant boss (2nd boss, I believe) that swings around, and you have to hit it with missles when it opens up. I got the Super Missles afterwards, but I can't figure out where to go.

I checked all previous locations, and I haven't skipped over any green doors. The only area that seems like it could be the way is a long hallway to the east of where you get the Charge Beam, but there's this one collapsing floor I can't pass (it has spikes over it, and it's very long, so I can't jump across).

Any Idea of where I'm going wrong (sorry for the double post, BTW)?

Man hearing you guys talk about it I can't wait to get it for 30 cents. I played it once during the Super NES era but I was young and didnt quite understand the whole exploration and back tracking concept so I didn't enjoy it too much. Now that I am older wiser and all that jazz I want to try it again. Dang next month cant get here soon enough.

Just got the Screw Attack, and if I know anything about Metroid by now, that means I'm probably closing in on the end.

I've been aching to play this lately but don't have a physical copy. The Club Nintendo reward is tempting me, though I think I'm going to wait for the 30 cent release because of the off-screen functionality. Seriously, pumped in anticipation!!!

But that would be nor fair to underage gamers. We can't just get ridley of them.
