They're surely keeping the hype up so It'd better be one of the better games in the series. The Wii Remote and WiiMotionPlus should provide plenty of unexplored capabilities. As much as I loved Twilight Princess, I also felt that it wasn't a game that pushed the series in any new direction other than making it big and pretty.
If you look at how clever Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks used the touch screen without toying to much with the formula that defines a game as "Zelda", I think we have the right to expect something similar in console form from nintendo.
Nintenden, you don't have the right to filter how others express their opinions. If someone came in and said it was awesome, you wouldn't be criticizing how "in-depth" (whatever that means in this context) his opinion is. But because the opinion is different from yours, you are. Tough luck.
About the actual news... wow, I never would have expected this. Great news. New Mario, Metroid, and Zelda in one year? Has that ever happened before?
Of course, Adam. At least twice. The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 2 (JP), and Metroid were all released in '86. Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, and TLoZ:WW were all released in '02.
Ah, NEG, but I meant in the US (or EU for that matter). I don't keep up with Japanese release dates since I don't live there. Both of your examples apply to Japan, not the US. Of course, I keep forgetting in my excitement that this was a Japanese event, so it may not be coming out here this year. I will cross my fingers.

I thought about posting that exception, but meh. In actuality, it's: Metroid ('86), Super Mario Bros. 2 ('86 Japan), The Legend of Zelda ('86) Metroid Prime ('02 US, '03 JP), Super Mario Sunshine ('02), Wind Waker ('02) It's still pretty close!
Wind Waker was '03 for US according to Wikipedia. Japan got that triple-hitter year in the NES days, but we've still yet to get it as far as I've noticed.
i personally get tired of all the whining when it comes to zelda - the graphics- celshading, not expanding the story etc. it is a game after all is said and done so just enjoy the great gameplay mechanics & puzzles/action/adventure. sorry but i don't get the whining about this and that - all the zelda games i've ever play'd were GREAT GAMES! GAMES BEING THE KEY WORD HERE!

Metriod Prime Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass in '07 Metriod Prime Trilogy, New SMB Wii and Zelda: Spirit Tracks last year aka '09
ok, so I guess Trilogy isn't new but still.... and it fails if you want to exclude handhelds.....
Yea, I definitely exclude handhelds. The handheld versions of previously console games are never as good. You guys keep throwing out examples, and I'll keep making up exceptions, haha. So it's not quite as rare as I expected, but they way I imagined this triple-hitter is more specific than what I wrote. No telling if we'll get Zelda this year anyway, so, hmm...
Well this is interesting, Gamestop is already taking pre-orders for Zelda Wii. This makes me think that this game will be released in 2010 for all regions. Gamestop wouldn't let you pre-order a game a year before release, would they? http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_i...
Yes, actually, they would. Gamestop is completely full of poop when it comes to release dates that have not been officially announced. I preordered Other M and they had a June release date. Does that mean it's coming in June? Well, it's possible, sure, but if it were at all a credible source we'd have OTHER M COMING IN JUNE headlines everywhere... and yet, there are no parades. No gaming sites have covered this. I also preordered NSMBDS when the DS first came out, and they told me I'd have it that summer. I don't think it came out until after the DS Lite, in fact.
So the information may be correct, but if so, it's coincidental. They just guess at release dates and time frames for their preorders to cooperate with their system, I would assume.
That's actually not true. Just about every Zelda fansite has covered it, which are still gaming sites. And I suppose you are right about gamestop allowing pre-orders without knowing anything about the release date. But hey, ya never know, maybe they do know when its coming out. And even if they do, it does us no good because we'll have to wait for Nintendo to tell us anyway.
"People who alter or destroy works of art and cultural heritage for profit, or as an exercise of power, are barbarians." - George Lucas, 1988
You took that sentence out of context, Hylian. I was talking about Other M. IGN and Nintendolife aren't posting news articles on a June release for Other M despite Gamestop's made-up date. Fan sites will cover anything. There may even be a Metroid fan site crazy enough to think Gamestop is remotely credible. However, I would have thought the NSMBDS debacle should have been the nail in the coffin if there was any doubt to begin with. They clearly lied there, and that's just one example. I almost never preorder, so I'm sure there are plenty others I had no way of knowing about.
Hmmm, I'd say it's almost a guarantee that it'll be delayed. With Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Other M supposed to be hitting this year as well, I have a feeling that they'll push the next Zelda to early 2011. I'm thinking Metroid sometime in the summer, and Mario Galaxy 2 for Fall / Winter (Holiday) sales, which would push Zelda into the beginning of the next year.
Nintendo likes to space their top tier titles out, so that they won't overshadow each other, and they can make the most for each release. Even giving a minimum of 2 months between each title, that would certainly push at least ONE of those three into the next year.
I don't think the gaming Gods would see fit to grant the wishes of a million gamers and bestow upon us a magical year that included Metroid, Pokemon (Heart Gold and Soul Silver), Mario, and Zelda. It just seems TOO perfect. But, ohhhhh, if it happens, I will be one happy, happy nerd.
Well, Galaxy is supposed to be coming early this year, isn't it? And Other M would not get the kind of holiday sales that Zelda would. I could see this happening if Nintendo really does have it ready in time.
