Topic: Wii U Virtual Console titles are only compatible with Wii peripherals...

When playing Virtual console games the console enters Wii mode disabling all Wii U peripherals. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!! DO SOMETHING NINTENDO! PLEASE!

also dont get your hopes up too quickly the nintendo is just starting out its all possible with an update should they choose too, they are will be phasing out the wii's if i remeber correctly so by then they can update the vc games to work on the gamepad or whatever

Is this an issue? The Wii U is obviously still using the old Wii remotes and stuff, so what's the problem with not being able to use the Gamepad for VC stuff?

I can tell you why it bothers ME. I would like to play VC titles on the gamepad screen while other people are watching TV. At this point I am kind of glad I missed out on the preorders. While not a total deal breaker for me, this news has certainly cooled my enthusiasm.

Wii U enters a wii emulator when they do wii games so it can't put it on the gamepad even if it wanted to.

It's funny because I don't really want to play my VC titles on such a small screen but I did want to use the Pro controller (I hate the CC/CCP being tethered to the Wiimote) for my VC collection so it does annoy me too. Iwata did say that they will have a WII U VC in the future and those games will be compatible with the Wii U controllers however I'm not sure if they will go to the effort of patching all existing VC titles or will just release GCN/SS/DC titles for the Wii U VC.
