I hear a voice screaming to Nintendo not to release the Vitality Sensor now, plus this gives more insight as to why Nintendo refused High Voltage Software's request for WiiSpeak.
I bought mine hoping Wii Speak would catch on. However, none of my friends got it (use Skype instead), and I have no games which make use of it. Such is the life of post-release peripherals, and yes I'm looking at you Wii Motion + and Balance board!
I know there are like no games that use wii speak, but I use it to chat with my friend in the lobby, I was hoping to use it to chat with people I dont see that much, or use it to voice chat with NL members

Ha! I have two of them, both with unused codes for the WiiSpeak Channel. Now that they've been discontinued, bidding starts at nine million US dollars. Anyone interested?
Just kidding. I'll keep them to remind myself not to buy any Nintendo peripherals in the future. Actually, both of mine were bundled with games so I didn't pay full price for them. I think the one which came with Endless Ocean 2 was free.
You'd think the headsets would run on the same WiiSpeak system. That would make the most sense. They're probably just discontinued the device (planning to replace it with the headsets) and not the service.
I love using Wii Speak with Animal Crossing. Monster Hunter no one wants to use it. Which is a shame because I am NOT going to type while I'm trying to set up bombs. My friend Luis and I use Wii Speak constantly. Also Mix Superstar now uses it.
Get ready to hate me, WiiSpeak is the most innovative product since the Wii Remote and Balance Board. The lack of attention is a disappointment. DK Country Returns should have had online co-op with WiiSpeak, same with Kirby Epic Yarn, New Super Mario Bros., etc.
What Nintendo needs to do:
The first time I saw WiiSpeak clipped on the sensor bar I automatically knew. Nintendo needs to combine WiiSpeak to the sensor bar as one piece. What was done to the Wii Remote Plus should have been done to the sensor bar. They wouldn't have lost much money and consumers wouldn't have been too upset because WiiSpeak is completely optional unlike how Wii Sports Resort needs the Wii MotionPlus. So early Wii adopters wouldn't have been so mad, they would have been grateful even. But I guess it's too late now.
I say they add a mic to the sensor bar next gen, because this beauty of a technology needs more attention. Not only will it boost online support but it will also increase developer creativity a la DS. Plus we want Nintendogs Wii.
The problem with Wii Speak is Nintendo is too scared that people will say inappropriate stuff using it. They don't even allow us to chat with a keyboard in games either. Well, maybe now they'll come out with the Wii Speak Plus that automatically filters all foul language.
