So after speaking with IT today, Im not allowed to have my Wii on our college network (Only my PC and they do allow 360s and thats all) So I have them both on the network. They told me though if I could find a way to use a ICS connection then Im allowed to have my Wii on the network. Is there a way to do this or should I just wait till Winter Break when I'm home to download some VC?
If you get one of those USB wifi things for your PC and use that to share your PC connection with your Wii, would that count?
I know that Nintendo use to make a USB wifi connector for the PC to connect your Wii but they stopped making them a while ago. You migh be able to track one of them done on ebay or amazon or something like that but if your computer has Windows 7 the USB connector is not comapatable with Windows 7.
Did they give a reason why your Wii cant be hooked up to their network??

IT doesnt want any gaming devices on the network, Only PCs, New rule (I guess we had a huge rate the past 2 years of people droping out because of playing games and not doing school work) I found that USB on amazon for 40, I guess its worth a try?
Probably gaming devices were clogging up the network. Though Xboxes would be worse than Wiis. I'm guessing in college Wiis would be connected to download the occasional game/update and nearly all multiplayer would be local, since that's what the console does best, and there's no shortage of people around in college dorms.
It could also be the network has fairly advanced security settings for connecting that Xboxes can handle, but Wiis can't. Are the devices not allowed on the network at all or just wireless? Normally there's less security for wired networks. There are adapters for ethernet cables/wired connections, so you could try that too. LAN adapters are $25 at Nintendo's online store. (How hard would it have been to have just put an ethernet port on the back of the console? It's stupider than Microsoft not including wireless support - but that's a rant for another day.)

On the right track, IT was pretty upset with all the 360s on campus (We are a 360 school, I have never seen a PS3 on campus) and they made the network a "computer only" (Still we use the ICS all the time to keep the 360s online which I think defeats the idea of us being all on the network) anyways I guess I could try One of those other brand ones if anyone has one and can tell me if they work correctly.
