Topic: Why the f**king genesis version?

Posts 1 to 19 of 19

MegaMan3Dude

Because the SNES is only compatible with Classic controller and Gamecube
While the Genesis games are only compatible with Wii mote Classic controller and Gamecube controller

So publishers will release the genesis version so they get more money from people who dont have a classic controller/Gamecube
Genesis version = More $$$
SNES version = Less $$$

Understand?

Why did you start a thread to ask a question and then answer it as if someone else had? That reasoning seems pretty obvious, and I'm glad it works out that way. I have Classic Controllers coming out of the proverbial wazoo, but I still prefer to use the Wii remote by itself when possible.

I guess some people are ticked off by the fact that we got the Genesis version of Clayfighter. Just because it's the Genesis version doesn't mean it's bad. Clayfighter Tournament Edition is for the SNES only. That could be released also. Reason being is that we have multiple Street Fighter II ports. So it could be done. Plus it would shut people up about complaining about the Genesis version.

The Earthworm Jim games are actually better on the Genesis.

I already knew Earthworm Jim was better on the Genesis (has an extra level)

I wonder, do the third party companies themselves decide which version goes on the VC or does nintendo tell them which version to put on the VC?

Simply put, if the third party wants a version of a game up, Nintendo can either pick between that or nothing.

Hmm, that's a good point; hadn't considered that; I do find it annoying I have to hook up my CC to play Space Invaders the Original Game. Had I a clue it had ever been released for the PC Engine I'd have waited for the Japanese VC release...

It just takes time. You can do it.

Like the SNES version, it's a waste of your time.

Hear, hear.
Calling yourselves classic gamers, then saying Space Invaders is a waste of time? Heathens. Next you'll tell me you don't like Pac-man either.

I don't hate Space Invaders at all, but you have to admit, the SNES and PC Engine version sucks. Why? Adside from updated graphics, it's the same things as the arcade. Read the review of the SNES version of Space Invaders: The Original Game right here:

The staff at Nintendo Life also gave a negitive respone to the PC Engine version when it was released in Japan, criticizing it for being nearly the same game as the SNES version, which wasted it's capability. I had my reason.

I agree--Space Invaders is a great concept, but none of the rereleases did anything substantive til the recent overhaul-remixes...I heard the 360-arcade one does some awesome new stuff, and I loved the remixed version (for all intents and purposes) on Retro Gaming Challenge. Other than this, simply pick up the cheapest, oldest version available and you're getting the exact same gameplay.

However, the fact that you expressed this opinion initially as "waste of time" cements your position in the most blasphemous outskirts of Gaming Hell. Say hi to Ed Boon while you're down/out there!

I apoligize for what I said. I will not give out such a mean respone again.

In case your wondering, I do not visit the Gaming Hell site, also who's Ed Boon?

A guy who created Mortal Kombat I believe. The other guy was Tobias. Hence the character Noob Saibot.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

That's why it's good! I don't want it updated, I just want to play the game I remembered from the arcade and the SNES, PC Engine (and Playstation -- same release came out in Japan and I imported it back in the day; kind of cheesed off when I saw there was a domestic SNES release for it) releases do the job proper even having the same backglass art from Space Invaders Deluxe which I so loved in the arcade.

Now I have no problem with updated versions like the one that came out on the playstation or the excellent arcade sequels Return of the Invaders and Super Space Invaders '91, but saying the game is a waste of time because it's the arcade game when the arcade game hasn't been released on the VCA (and when it does it will be the awful-looking colour rather than lovely bloom-ridden black and white -- unless it's Space Invaders II which would be acceptable) just isn't valid to me regardless of who reviewed it here on NL.
