ESRB listing just confirmed that Tetris Party is apparently getting a sequel! Wasn't expecting this but not too surprised considering the success of the first one.
Tetris Party Deluxe "is a puzzle game in which players arrange falling block shapes to pack them into contiguous horizontal rows. There are several versions of the game: arranging pieces to form pictures, helping a small figure to reach a goal, and engaging in multiplayer contests". Can't wait to hear more and how it differs from the first one, more specifically.
There was some info leaked on the net a while ago, but I don't know how accurate it was. There was supposed to be a DS version too, but the game has only been rated for Wii. Anyway, the cool things I heard were WiiSpeak support, Master mode, 40-line sprint, and a shadow puzzle editor were being added. I've still seen nothing confirming whether the game will be retail or WiiWare though.
No. Tetris Party still offers much gameplay and options to me, most of it I barely touched because this game is full of content. Just like Bomberman Blast. I don't need a sequel.
WiiSpeak is a must for both games. Also if the next Tetris Party wants me, it should have more unique Tetris variants. The next Bomberman definately needs a Solo player / Co-op Story Mode.

Its an insta-download for dsiware. But is it only retail now?
"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."
Yeah I was under the impression it was an expanded retail version of the wiiware game. Kinda like groovin blocks has a retail version with more "stuff"
Wii owners should just go on-line and get "party". I still hope they do a dsiware version of it. I'd be willing to cash in on my tetris ds retail cart and get the dsiware version instead tbh. Tetris DS retail goes for a lot of money second hand.
I'm not sure there will be enough new features to justify the expense, but I'll probably buy it anyway. Seems like a cheap cash-in to release such a similar Tetris game and so soon after the initial game. Maybe they didn't get the sales they wanted off the WiiWare service, since most people buy retail games and are clueless about WiiWare, but even if going retail does increase their market, the price of a retail Tetris game will surely be unattractive to the majority of people.

Are you nuts? Tetris Party has been on the top 20 (most of time was in top 10) (currently in top 5) (not including free demos) ever since its been released late 2008 for 1200pts per download. By now they must have past the benchmark and making lots of profit.
When it was peaking on the top 20 it was getting like 15,000 sales a month in the Americas on WiiWare, and it was never as popular in Europe as the Americas. It wasn't even a huge hit in Japan where people are crazy about Tetris. Add it all up, and it's probably only sold 500,000 copies, which really isn't incredibly spectacular. The reality is being in the top 20 on WiiWare doesn't mean a whole lot, because most people don't buy downloadable games. Even when they held the Tetris Party tournaments, not even enough people competed in them to win all the prizes, which made it look really pathetic.

Certainly not for Wii Retail games (The Wii Retail games I like would kill to have sold 500,000 copies!) but for Wiiware I think it is beyond exceptional. Just think of LostWinds, It has got a sequel after being on Wii shop for 1-2 years and it wasn't on the Top 20 nearly alot (The sequel Neither).

Didn't you say about 500,000 was downloaded but Europe and Japan were less interested in this game than North America so they chose not to buy as much as Americans?
Im not trying to start a debate but I can't think Tetris Party has got less sold then Tetris Online Developers expected. I think for wiiware the Developers or Publishes need atleast 30,000 copies or possibly alittle more or less sold to meet the benchmark. But Im not sure. Less money goes into Wiiware than Wii Retail games you know so for Wiiware they expect less money.
If you thought not alot of people participated in the tournaments then compare that to Overturn. That games bad ass yet I can never find anyone Online to play!
Well, Tetris DS sold 2 million copies in the first year and a few months after it was released and was hard to find in stores even in that initial period, so I think they would have expected that a cheaper downloadable Tetris would sell more than ~500,000 copies by now. 500,000 is probably pretty good for most games, especially on WiiWare, but for a game as popular as Tetris they are probably a little disappointed that the WiiWare service didn't give them the sales they might have got with a retail game.
