Topic: Which game are you looking forward to the most, Galaxy 2 or Other M?

Other M by leaps and bounds cause it's...you know....different.

Galaxy 2 just has me angry since it's pulling a Halo: ODST on us. Essentially an expansion pack being sold as a game as far as I'm concerned as of now. Mario doesn't make cardboard-cutout sequels...

I kind of agree about Galaxy 2, but I'm not making any clear judgments until I play it. It could be better than the first. I sure hope so, because I was left disappointed.

SMG2, because I yearn constantly for more 3D platforming. Other: M though, is so damn enticing and yummy looking, I would choose that but the gameplay is shrouded in mystery.

@Swerd: Dude, it's supposed to have 95% new content, with only the odd galaxy being re-used. Don't compare SMG2 to Halo ODST (CSS in space). You give me sadz.

I agree - its far more unknown territory and that's what excites me more - whatever, both will get pre-ordered with amazon prime and both will get worshipped when they arrive, but at this moment in time, mystery > guaranteed awesomeness.

Let's be real, I'll get them both at some point. I know I'll love Galaxy 2...but the E3 trailer for Other M was just a pile of intrigue and awesomesauce...hard to say.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I am just always going to be a bit bigger of a Mario than a Metroid fan (I'm talking like a microscopic amount more), so I would have to say SMG2 has me a bit more excited. I agree with everybody about Metroid though, a new style of Metroid is going to be incredible to play. Getting both games on launch day, no doubt.

I'm more excited by the prospect of Other M; it's something new, the previews look great, and you can't argue with the pedigree of the developers. There's a non-zero chance that it might be awful to play, but I can handle that.

On the other hand, Galaxy 2 is an absolute banker of a game in the same way that NSMB was. I'm absolutely certain it's going to be great fun, even if it's not the freshest item on the menu. I'd still think that there's still plenty of room to manoeuvre compared with the likes of Halo though; 3D platforming isn't such a well mined genre as first person shooters and there were plenty of traditional Mario elements not in the first game that'll make for relatively easy additions to the sequel.

Depends.... by default I'd have to say SMG2, for the simple fact that game was sooooo good I wouldn't mind simply playing a longer version of it.

But, if I start getting the idea that Metroid is going to be close in spirit to Super Metroid, then that's my game of the year right there.

I'm not sure. I thought the first SMG was ok, but I loved the prime series, and I loved some of the 2d metroids. You can't go wrong with mario, but you can't go wrong with metroid either. So, my answer is, I'm looking forward to both.

What exactly is "the other m" referring to? I could understand "the other s", but,"the other m"?

@110: "Other S" would make no sense. "Other M" stands for "Other Metroid", something that is hinted at in the end of either Super Metroid or Metroid, i can't remember which.
