Please not again the playing it safe complaint, that's just an opportunistic and shallow approach to a game that builds on something that already was good, most developers do this. Sure it has the same graphical style and it won't be completely different, but you don't even know how much it is going to differ from the first one. Nintendo usually reinvents their franchises when they bring out a new game, let them build on something for once. I'm sure the next console will have a completely different Mario.

Monster Hunter games are epic, but they're also insanely niche (for westerners, the Japanese love this kind of game). I really recommend everyone try a Monster Hunter game before they buy one.

Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Monster Hunter games are very, very difficult. I played Tri while I was in Japan, and it definately takes some getting used to.

The gameplay mechanics themselves are similar to hardcore RPG-style, so again, it's a love-or-hate kind of thing.

The visuals are stunning for a Wii game, but unfortunately I think that's going to lead to a lot of people thinking this game is accessible and entertaining. It's not. It's difficult and rewarding.

The question was which I was looking foward to the most. From what little has been shown, SMG2 is playing it safe compared to Metroid. That isn't a prediction of quality.

I see, it looks really fun to me, and I can handle hard games. So bringing up the love or hate type situation caused concern, I'm not too familiar with archaic, hardcore RPG conventions, as I haven't really played many pre-SNES RPGs, so some more detail on those would be greatly appreciated.

Galaxy 2, definitely. I like Metroid, but sometimes I find it frustratingly difficult,

Sorry Fox, I misunderstood you. I'm just fed up with that trendy term which I associate with complainig without thinking.

Hm. Tricky question. I'm going to say Mario Galaxy 2, because at this point in time I'm really into bright, colorful platformers. By the time June roles around, however, who knows?

Again, Win/Win. At least in my book, anyways.

Cheers to all those looking forward to these, but personally, I'll be patiently waiting for a review of both of them before I even consider dropping some hard-earned cash on either of them. Better to be safe than sorry, I say.

I don't know. I'm looking forward to Other M, however I don't outright love any of the Metroid games due to some of the series' trademark gameplay elements (moody, creepy areas, timed segments, etc.). Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks interesting, but I need to see more gameplay.

I'm most excited for SMG2, but Other M sounds interesting too, especially since we'll get a little more of Samus' back story from it.

Other M without a doubt. it will be one of 2 games i've ever bought at full price, the first being Prime Trilogy.

if you don't like those things, then what is it you do like about metroid? the atmosphere is the core of the games.

Metroid: Other M.

I'll definitely be picking up both, but anything Metroid is at the top of my priority list...

Depends. I rarely get a game first day, so ill have to wait on the reviews, but it seems atm im leaning towards Metroid.

Definitely Other M. I never understood the obsession with Mario Galaxy. I always thought that was a mediocre title.
