Metroid M is an exciting and mysterious game, it is a new direction for the series and we know very little about it. On the other hand to my opinion Mario Galaxy is one of the best games ever, so I would have to say based on what I know about and have seen from both games that I'm looking forward to Galaxy 2 the most.
Neither, although I'm expecting Other M to be better. I expect Galaxy 2 to be much like Galaxy, they're going to go all in on the presentation, and have some unintersting, linear, and easy level design to round out the gameplay.
Neither. I'm worried Other M won't focus enough on exploration and platforming, which are my favorite aspects of Metroid. Digiki said all I've got to say about Mario Galaxy 2.

Nah, I can just play SM64 for some great fun. Or Ape Escape since I haven't completed that, lthough I last played it during last years January exams...
Metroid: Other M... It's actually one of my most anticipated titles this year.

You need to start taking your optimist pills.
Why? Being a pessimist is a win/win situation: If you're right, you get to rub it in people's noses, if you're wrong, you got something good out of it. An optimist is just someout who puts all his eggs in one basket without paying any consideration to the odds. If you ask me, Digiki made the right choice to be skeptical, especially considering his minority opinion of the first Mario Galaxy game, as well as Nintendo's current phylosophy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Mario Galaxy 2 because it's not hiding in some dark room waiting for some person to drag it out into the light. We actually have information on Galaxy 2 and we at least know what kind of game it will be. Metroid: Other M is purposely is hiding in the corner trying not to make any contact. And so far it's working.

people thought the same thing when they saw metroid prime for the first time. remember that of course the trailers are disproportionately loaded with action; you can't really show samus 'exploring' for 3 minutes on end and get people excited.

On the other hand being too pessimistic makes you miserable company and will ultimately annoy anyone with a happier view on life
On-Topic, I don't really plan on picking up either - Monster Hunter Tri and Epic Mickey are my big 2 for 2010, but I think Galaxy will be the one of these two I buy if I do get either.
Just make sure you have a very high tolerance for very difficult games, and a real love for archaic-style RPG mechanics.
Monster Hunter games are epic, but they're also insanely niche (for westerners, the Japanese love this kind of game). I really recommend everyone try a Monster Hunter game before they buy one.
