Ugh, I hope Sega will just continue to rerelease all of the older Genesis titles for eternity. Other than the GBA/DS side-scrolling games, I don't think I've enjoyed a single console game bearing the Sonic name since the release of Sonic CD years ago. Sega never ceases to disappoint me when they come out with a new and exciting Sonic game that continuously fail to deliver.
The news is that (another) Sonic Collection will be out on the DS sooner or later this year. My hope is that there will be nothing more than that.
It'll come out when SEGA get's their bathroom shutdown again. After all, it seems that they just crap out Sonic games in disc form now.

Project Needlemouse is 2D and for the PS3/360 sometime in 2010. I'm hoping for it to look terrible at first because all of the recent Sonic games looked kind of promising but then ended up being totally terrible. Let's have it look terrible and end up being good for a change.

The systems still have not been confirmed. That spokesperson may have meant that the PS3/360 versions will be in HD while still being on Wii in SD or a different definition of HD that includes the Wii (like maybe he meant current-gen consoles). It may still come to the Wii.
Not all 3D console Sonic games are bad. I think Sonic Adventure is great, while Sonic Adventure 2 is a masterpiece. After that, it gets muddy until the day levels of Sonic Unleashed. If they could just learn not to include gimmicks like 3-in-1 team gameplay (Heroes), guns (Shadow), on-rails tilt-control movement with bad jumping controls (Secret Rings), overall broken controls (2006), swords (Black Knight), or alternative forms (Unleashed), they could probably make another great 3D console Sonic game.

Sonic, Crime and Punishment - if done right then i'd buy it! i think it would be interesting to play a dostoyevsky novel. i would prefer sonic the idiot or the brothers sonic.
