I had recently completed Trilogy (with 100% items and scans thank you very much) and honestly can't pick one game over the others. They are all superb, especially with the flawless Wii controls. What's great about the Prime games is that each one is unique in it's own way. The first one is more or less a reimagining of Super Metroid and portrays the traditional Metroid gameplay best out of the three. The second game focuses more on challenging the player with a far more hostile environment that somewhat limits exploring but also rewards players who make it to the end. (Also the Light Suit is without a doubt the COOLEST upgrade Samus has ever recieved.) The Third game is a more action oriented take on Metroid but also a lot more story driven as the plot elements dictate which areas become accessable rather than just simply finding the right upgrade.
Obviously Metroid purest will claim the first as the best of the three but a more open minded group of people will give you a much broader range of opinions. They are ALL some of the best games ever made though.
Future Wii purchases: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid: Other M Zelda Wii New Super Mario Bros. Wii Sin and Punishment 2
I'm playing MP2: Echoes right now and I didn't like it at first. As I acquired more upgrades, the game just got better. The soundtrack alone is amazing. It's probably my fave but MP1 is still King of the Hill.
Gotta go with Echoes. I really enjoyed this game alot more than prime for some reason. Mainly, i liked it more because it had a STORYLINE, yeah. I hated that you just came into the game with no backstory whatsoever, only that you where called to a distress signal from a pirate frigate, and that was about all they gave you. Also, they where WAY more generous with tanks and expansions then they where in Prime 1. There where less Mini-bosses, the Bosses in this game where better, awesome soundtrack, and the list goes on and on. I also played it alot more often then i did prime, i played it religiously every day. So, sorry if you hate me Echoes hater's, but i really loved this game

I think they just kept getting better. I haven't even finished the third one, but it's amazing. I liked the second one a lot, and I actually enjoyed the dark/light think.
My choice is definitely the first Prime, though I love all three; Prime's atmosphere and visuals were just gorgeous, especially Phendrana Drifts...
I need money so I can purchase the Trilogy; I need to own the first two again with updated Wii controls, damn it...

Hard one, love them all. Prime 2 probably just about clinches it though, thanks to some quite spectacular bosses (Quadraxis is still my favourite boss in the entire series) and some great power-ups. Getting the Light Suit was awesome, and the Beam/Missile combos were spectacular. Remember the first time you charged the Dark Beam, hit Missile, and launched a massive black hole at an unfortunate space pirate or two? I sure do. I enjoyed the whole light world/dark world thing too. Getting Prime Trilogy for Christmas, can't wait to start playing Prime 2 again~
I love them all. MP1 rules supreme and is just a perfect 3D game. It took MP2 a second try, on the Trilogy disk, to get liked by me aswell. Its slow, methodical progress distracted back then on the Gamecube and. But now, some years later, I "got it". It still has its flaws and feels very "recycled" after playing it direcrly after MP1, but it is still a very good game. And MP3... well, it was THE reason foy me to buy a Wii besides Super Mario Galaxy and it (both) delivered. My rankings :MP1>>MP3>MP2
ditto senor ding dong Metroid Prime 1 had a great soundtrack beautiful environments and a focus on exploration over story the second one used an over used dark vs light cliche and had some cheap bosses (cough boost guardian cough) and the third one had the inability to switch beams was too story driven, beam combos taken out, and it was slow paced but it added things like multiple planets in a single game and hypermode which I liked which puts it over two so imo 1>3>2 but they are all awsome games
