Any brave souls out there bite the proverbial bullet and download this game before the review? Looks promising, but I suspect the video is from the iPhone app (see the control commands at the bottom of the screen). Sounds good, too.
I'm hoping for a positive (and quick, hint-hint) review.
The game developer helped make really bad Wii Games: M&M's Racing and both versions of Chicken Shoot. WarMen Tactics was actually an IPhone game (1.99) called WarMen. That is why in the trailer you see those four buttons; the video they are showing is a proof of concept for the IPhone game!
So, in short: poor Wii dev who ported their IPhone shooter to WiiWare. Result? Bad.
I'll wait for a review. For retail small devs have no choice but to produce garbage because they don't have the talent, money or time that big devs have.
Obviously knowing what they've made I'm going to be weary. Their Iphone version of this game doesn't ahve a demo so I can't even tell on that.
But I'll hold some hope since it reminds me a lot like Winback and even when small devs make crap retail games, when they are able to fund their own projects, they usually try and make something that they want to be good.
Please wait for the review, I'm doing everyone a HUGE favour reviewing this. My god, I don't know what else to say, but you all owe me big time!
Yeah, the trailer on the Nintendo Channel rubbed me the wrong way. It even had the same menu system as the iPhone version, which doesn't make since really since your only supposed to be pointing and shooting.

Well, you "move" as well. I've submitted the review. I have to say that this makes me feel about about giving a 1 to Karate Phants. As broken as that game was at least it was a ground-up effort for the Wii. This is just a lame-ass iPhone port with a grossly inflated pricetag.

Then re-rate Karate Phants!
I understand being under time pressure when releasing a review, but who needs a rating that is rushed out after just a few hours of playing, especially when it comes to bombarding a game with a really crushing 1/10 (that only broken software like Last Ninja 3 and Family&Friends Party deserves).
You're way too subjective (and fast)! I like your writing, but to rate properly a reviewer must put his mind into the audience each specific game was made for! Not everyone is like you. Really, a 3/10 and 4/10 is bad enough but a 1/10 is as special and rare as a 10/10.
Don't worry people. Nintendo's online strategy is quality over quantity! And you can see this by seeing how there are no bad games on DSiWare or WiiWare!

Absolutely not, there is no way a re-rating is going to happen in any of my reviews. We had an internal discussion about this and the problem is that reviews are at a place in time, if you start re-rating then the review is never static and the purpose of having it is defeated - same reason we don't re-review a game because it's had a patch.
We review it at the time it comes out as we see fit providing our justification for the score and editorial agrees or disagrees (I've had a few scores downgraded and at least one or two increased because of that). And you know if you read my review of Karate Phants that I did try to consider what the audience might be and I simply couldn't see why anyone would actually want to play it regardless of age or national origin. It's only in comparison to something like Warmen Tactics that it looks better, but that's a game that I never thought I'd see on the Wii.
