I got the Wii version, unaware that there was a GameCube version. I thought the GC had long since been discontinued. Regardless, after watching a playthrough of someone using the GC version, I believe that the Wii version is far better. The Wii Remote makes the slingshot, boomerang, and bow dead accurate. I also like swinging my remote instead of button-mashing. Finally, I love the surround-sound of the TV/remote speakers (the puzzle-solved noise is awesome coming out of the remote).

Unless people like Link being left-handed, it's probably unquestionable that the Wii version is vastly superior.

Just looked at an LP, and you're right! Link's a lefty in the GC version. LOL!

Haha, I got the Gamecube version long before I had a Wii, and just last year I got TP Wii, and EVERYTHING WAS BACKWARDS!!! I'm still confused...

But yeah, I guess I prefer it, if only I wouldn't keep going to the wrong side of every town. I played through GC's twice, and Wii's once so far.

When making the Wii version, Nintendo decided that many players would be holding the Wii remote in their right hand, so they wanted to make Link (who is normally left handed) reflect that. However, instead of remaking Link's animations to fit his right hand, the developers just mirrored the game so that everything that was left was right and everything right was now left. The Gamecube version had no need for Link to use his right hand, so the game was kept the same for that release.

Or at least that's what I heard. It's probably true (it makes sense), but I don't have any links to confirm the info.

@Buster: Well yes, I knew that before I bought the game. I didn't ask why... Thanks anyway!

It would be easier to just mirror the game that they pretty much already had finished, as to fit in with the whole "The world is right-handed!" thing... (What about us left-handers?)

Yes, I know the majority of the world is right-handed blah blah blah...

Yeah, I remember when people first figured out the two where flipped, and some got mad that link was right-handed because he's always been a lefty.

Both are great but somehow it doesn't seem right when Link is right handed. He's always been a lefty. I kinda think of the Gamecube version as the official one and the Wii version is a port. I loved the game so much I bought two copies. One for cube and one for Wii. It's actually a Gamecube game only with motion controls.

The GC one controls better as you're pressing buttons rather than performing actions, you can also control the camera with the C-stick, unlike the Wii version where you cannot directly control it.

The only advantage the Wii version offers is being able to equip 4 tools instead of 2, which is convenient.
It also has less precise motion controls that some will enjoy.

Link had always been left-handed.

I have the GCN version. I will never consider Twilight Princess a Wii game; it was designed for the Gamecube from the start, and that's the original. Plus, Link is a lefty and always has been. I'm not a huge fan of motion controls just for the sake of having them. The pointer is cool for aiming the bow, but that's about the only advantage.

Ironically, he was still left-handed. The view of the game was mirrored, so it only appeared that he was right-handed

Oh, sorry. I saw the "I'm still confused," and I thought you were t6alking about as to why everything was backward, It didn't cross my mind that you were still talking about the game itself. Heh, stupid me.

In a semi-non-related note, I've always meant to try to pick up the GC version, just to see how it plays in comparison. Particularly with out motion control aiming for the bow. I used the Bow a lot more than I should have against enemies in TP, as it felt a lot better at hitting moving targets. But stationary targets were a problem for me, so things like the claw shot was a pain. I wonder how fun the game would be trading this off.

The game was released at the end of the GC's life (to support it's little brother, the WIIIIIIII!!)

Hey, it's still Twilight Princess, which is a great game. Does it really matter which version is better, when they're both of the same great game? And I like the GC version better, just because it's the one I own, and I got my Wii 1 year after it came out.

I bought a GC copy, but haven't played it yet. But I hear only the Wii version supports widescreen, making the screen less cluttered by the HUD.
