An awful lot of this stuff is well known material, much of which will appear in most best of lists for the Wii...
How about some real gems that are easily dismissed as shovelware but underneath, are actually solid games. Here's my list of good Wii games that won't appear on any greatest games list.
-Vertigo: Race your marble to the end of the course.
-Minicopter: Adventure Flight: Mission based RC helicopter game that shines when paired with a Classic Controller.
-Battleship: Remember the Genesis/SuperNes game? This is like a heavily expanded version of it.
-Emergency Heroes: Fun driving game featuring emergency vehicles from Ubisoft.
-Data East Arcade Classics: Forget the Namco and SNK stuff, here's a real hidden gem with some rarities.
-GT Pro: Not for most, but if you loved the GBA games, this plays just like those.
-Maximum Racing: GP Classic Racing: Fun racer when given the chance.
-Sky Crawlers Innocent Aces: An excellent Ace Combat style arcade flight game from Namco.
-Super PickUps: Another fun arcade racer that on the surface, appears likely to be junk.
-TrackMania: Sadly Firebrand's run of good games ended with the Wii U Hot Wheels game, but this one is good.
-GTI Club: Fun remake of a late 90's Konami arcade racer.
-Cruis'n: By modern standards, it stinks. But if you loved arcade's of the late 90's, this one is a winner.
-Target: Terror: Same deal as above by the same developers, but it's a light gun arcade shooter.
-Mercury Meltdown Revolution: People enjoyed this franchise on the PSP, but the Wii version went ignored, sadly.
-Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident: The best point and click adventure game on the Wii.
-Real Heroes: Firefighter:Fun mission based firefighting game.
-Wii Play: Odd choice as everyone wrote this off as shovelware. On the contrary, I enjoyed the tank minigame.
-Marble Saga: Kororinpa & Kororinpa: Marble Mania: Fun maze games with marbles.
-Indianapolis 500 Legends: Plain driving game, but the content and the mission mode make it a decent time for a few hours. Not worth it if it cost more than $5 or so, but at that price, it's a good buy for the few hours of fun it provides.
Honorary mentions are Impossible Mission and Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. I didn't like the meat of either game, but I bought them for the included original Impossible Mission and the classic Lucasarts computer adventure game and went away satisfied. I think Impossible Mission cost me $2 which even beats Nintendo's Virtual Console pricing for Commodore 64 downloads had it been an option to get it there.
@GoneFishing
Thanks, cool list. I have 8 of the games
Minicopter Adventure Flight is called Radio Helicopter in Europe. Solid variety in missions. Colorful solid N64/Dreamcast graphics. The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces - Solid variety in missions again. Good PS2 graphics. Unique controls, and beautiful anime movie cutscenes. Trackmania Good, fast and extremely challenging trial racer. Many challenges. And a huge level editor. Cruisn' I hoped it would be at least the chiller Cruis'n USA was, but no, it's worse. This is for me the worst game on the Wii that is (C) Nintendo. Yeah really. It's a Nintendo game, made by a third party. Because Nintendo still owns the Cruisn' franchise (and not the Killer Instinct franchise ). Mercury Meltdown Revolution / Kororinpa / Marble Challenge Kororinpa is my favourite of these motion balance games. That one needs a WiimotePlus or GamePad version. Wii Play with over 20.000.000 sales that one shouldn't be in this category. I love the Lazer Pong though. Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings Bought it because there is Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis perfect PC version, on it. A cult classic point&click adventure!
From your list I'm interested in Impossible Mission. Was a PAL version ever released?
