If anyone is familiar with Warcraft 3, there is many tower defense type games where creatures run across the screen and you build towers to kill them. You can upgrade the towers as the enemies get more difficult etc..

Is there a game like this for Wii / WiiWare?? It would be very enjoyable with the wiimote. What do you all think?

Crystal Defenders R1 & R2 are on Wiiware I believe.

I like FFCC: My Life as a Darklord. It doesn't use the Wiimote in a unique way or anything but it's a fun tower defense game you can find on WiiWare.

I'd recommend My Life as a Darklord over Crystal Defenders personally even if it feels more restricted and is horrendously difficult unless you grind or buy some DLC(the 400 pack with the spells is probably the only "essential" one).

Swords and Soldiers also has elements of tower defense and some levels are pure tower defense.

I've been wanting to try those out, but the price is unsettling.

My Life As a Darklord is ok (from playing the demo) but can also get expensive.

Choices choices...

I second this. The game is a 2D/2.5D RTS where you defend your base while creating troops to attack the enemy, and it's indeed awesome.

So ends a saga older than time itself.

That Robo Apocalypse mutant beaver game will be coming out at some point (honestly I thought it would be here by now) and that's also a tower defence game.

Seems to be a fair few choices out there it seems. The genre isn't my bag at all... but I did really enjoy Lock's Quest on the DS... how could I not

Yeah, I've been waiting for Robocalypse: Beaver Defense, but I haven't heard much about it lately. To be honest there aren't many very good tower defense games to be found in general, which is unfortunate since I love the genre. The best one I've played to date is called Defense Grid: The Awakening on PC. You can get it through Steam for about $10 and it has excellent replay value due to all the achievements and modes.

But if you only have a Wii and you want something kinda comparable to the tower defense mods for Warcraft III, I would have to say Crystal Defenders is the best you're going to get for the time being. My Life as a Darklord is alright for strategy, but it has a totally different feel to it than your standard tower defense games...which could either be a good or bad thing depending on your preference.
