I think that even WHEN (It's only a matter of time) the releases for the VC stop completely, it will not be dead. It will be dead for those of us who keep track of it, but not by Nintendo's mind.

Why: Because of the casuals. There will always be a steady stream of sales, with very minimal effort from Nintendo and there is no competition. WiiWARE, in the other hand, NEEDS a constant flow of titles or else it would flounder since there is no brand recognition for any one game (The exception being Nintendo mascots, and the Mega Man types).

One of the first things a few family members of mine did when they set up their Wiis was to get Mario 1, 3 and World on VC. It was one of the first questions, actually: "Can I play those old Mario games on my Wii?" You just can't beat brand recognition.

Also,my guess is that the profit margin for Nintendo on VC games is MUCH larger than WiiWARE. But then again, I may be very wrong in that.

Talking about VC, Nintendo's prehistoric non-transfer policy is the ONLY reason I haven't bought a black Wii. Want to replace my Entertainment Room Wii with a cool looking black one so bad, but don't want to have to make all those re-purchases. This has got to be on their minds, and this bomb is going to BLOW if they don't deal with it with the 3DS. Just saying...

You only say that because its taking forever for Super Mario All Stars to come.

The thing is, All Stars isn't coming. Why would nintendo release All Stars when on those games on that catridge is on VC already?

I agree with you, WhoKnew, that All Stars will never come out, especially since all the individual pieces are already available.

But I've got a counter-argument for you. If Nintendo DID make it happen, at any price (Even up to the sum of the individual parts), I believe it would still sell well. I would definitely buy it even though I have all the individual titles, for the updated graphics alone. I always preferred the All Stars version to the individual parts.

And I believe if they priced it maybe $5-$10 less than the price of the individuals they would still make out more $ in the end considering most people don't buy ALL the individual pieces anyways. (Mario 2 and Lost Levels aren't the same big sellers that World, 1 and 2 are).

And you could easily market it as a "Mario's Classic VC Collection" or something. Casuals would drop one shot to get what they want without doing it individually.

This summer, I plan to get:

NES
Wario's Woods
Yoshi
Yoshi's Cookie

SMS
Sonic
Sonic 2

SNES
Super ROTJ
Indiana Jones

GENESIS
Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Sonic & Knuckles
Columns

That's provided the VC remains slow.

I wish people would stop saying it's dead already. It's not dead unless Nintendo comes out and says there will be no more VC releases ever again. Admittedly though, it's a far cry from what it was back in it's pre-WiiWare glory days when we were seeing 2, sometimes 3 releases every single week and 1 N64 release each month. But since there was nothing this week, I suspect we'll get a game next Monday. And it will probably be good as most of the games released in the past few months have been of high quality.

Last I checked, they're still releasing new games, and more games are being rated for it. IMO, the VC is far from being "dead."

VC is dead like WiiWare is going to be the best downloadable service this gen. Never going to happen.

Just for you.

That's like asking why they should release Kirby Super Star when we already have Kirby Super Star Ultra. Oh wait...

'tis but a scratch.

We've had worse.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Despite my 50Hz moans, the VC has made some great games accessible, Sin and Punishment, Rondo of Blood and Golden Axe arcade are a few of my favourites. Wish the gave us more arcade support, as there at least 50Hz is irrelevant.

Don't suppose you have any fact's behind your statement, last time I checked Wild Gun's came to the console about two weeks ago. Well I suppose I can give him this, at least he wrote something in the subject line, even if it was only what he wrote in the title.
