I just did this to break both things Sean hates on forums: stirring people up and Tell/Convince me posts. I expect this to be deleted anyway. And if I don't see you, Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night!
Is it even POSSIBLE to convince a gamer to like Wii Music???
Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar. Please contact me before using my custom avatar!

Listen to Chicken Brutus. Me, him, WarioWoods, Adam, and Sean Aaron (and some others who I probably forgot) have got a 20-something page long thread going dedicated to Wii Music.
Wii Music is not your average music game. It is not supposed to be like Guitar Hero or Rock Band--in fact its kind of the opposite. While those games are about perfection and high scores, Wii Music is a creative tool, almost like the music editor thing in Mario Paint. You have to have a high interest in music and composition to really get into the game. The joy of this game doesn't come from getting a high score or unlocking new characters like most games--the joy of this game comes from creating something original and musically interesting.
The game has been criticized for a lack of depth, but that's only because the reviewers didn't give the game enough of a chance. That might sound like fan-boy drivel, but I've had thing game for over a year now--and I play it almost every day. This game has a ton of depth and nearly infinite replayability. If you consider yourself a creative person, if you really like to express your creativity, you'll have a lot of fun with this game. But if you're expecting Nintendo's answer to Guitar Hero you're probably going to be confused.

You should like wii music because if u look at it and you like what you see, you should like it, but if u dont like it...i guess u wont. I honestly have never played it, but just wanted to advise you there.

You should like it because it's not like most music games which expect you to press a button at the same time when the actual track matches the rhythm. Wii Music gives you the chance to make your own music, the way you should like it. And take it from Chicken Brutus and Kid_A, there's much more to get outt of Wii music than either Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
(I don't have the game yet, but I will consider getting it very soon.) (And from what I've seen [not played], it's a good game. Don't always believe others who say it's just a casual cash-in from the Big N.)
The game was alright. It just didn't have enough depth and I felt the motion controls were a bit TOO sensitive to easily create anything that sounded coherent.
It was inspirational as the Mii Freestyle mode in Guitar Hero stemed from this concept. With more depth (modes, control refinements, minigames etc.), I wouldn't mind a sequel.
The sad part (laughable?) is that Ninty expected this to be a huge system-seller. No matter how they dress it up, we all know they expected that game to sell more than 2 million.

(I dissagree with you on the lack of depth thing) But the thing is this game really COULD have been a huge system seller. This was, in my opinion, a huge step forward for the music-game genre. Nintendo's problem was the same problem they've always had--they didn't advertise it properly. The advertisements they did show made the game look like Rock Band for three year olds, a casual pointless game. Nothing more than a cheap cash in. But in reality it's actually a brilliant creation tool with lots of depth and replayability.
If you don't believe me on the lack of depth thing, check out some of the videos we've made in the "Attn Wii Music Fans" thread. (There are some links to Youtube videos of stuff we've made burried somewhere in that massive thread)

I like to think of this game as the musical version of Flipnote Studio. There isn't a point to Flipnote Studio. It's a creation tool. Your reward in that game isn't some achievement trophy or new character or something--it's the satisfaction that you've made something special. That's what Wii Music is all about.

When I said, inspirational, don't just take that as an industry thing. It was inspirational to the user as well, giving them a better understanding of music. Nintendo has always been good at the "sparking imagination stuff" with games like Animal Crossing and, more recently, Flipnote Studio. Wii Music was no exception. Unfortunately, like a number of recent Ninty products, it suffered from goofy design choices.

I sold it, but that was out of other reviewers making me hate my own game! But I'll get it back soon and my time with the game was mixed! I enjoyed seeing how I could work with the music and add personal touches on it. It was a truly unique experience becuase you could either play the music right or add notes to make the music your own kind of remix. On to the others modes all of the minigames were pretty enjoyable while the handbell and orchestra will feel a little more like Guitar Hero. I could talk on for just about forever, but I don't think I need to!

Could you explain goofy design choices? I can't think of anything right off my head... But now that you mention Animal Crossing that's another game that I compare to Wii Music because Animal Crossing really takes time to get into, to really discover all that the game has to offer. And I think that Wii Music is the same way. After a year I'm still discovering new techniques and tricks to use in Wii Music.

Well, there's been a link to a thread to read and I think a better topic title would be for people to discuss their thoughts rather than asking people to convince one of something.
